Base Class: Wizard
You have gained the knowledge of Dark Speech. This is not a language spoken in conversation but a powerful language used for powerful dark magics. Until recently, only the highest level demons and devils knew of this language, but now a new group of dark mages have discovered it and use it for their own malign purposes. Such a language comprises the Book of Vile Darkness and other vile tomes lost to the sands of time.
Macabre-lingual
You can use dark speech to create dark magical effects; however, these dark arts were not designed for the mortal body and have a high price for their use. Starting at 2nd level you gain a Vile Die which increases as you level up and fuels your abilities. Whenever an ability calls for you to roll your Vile Die, you take Necrotic damage equal to the number rolled that cannot be reduced and your HP Maximum is reduced by that amount. Your HP maximum returns to normal after a long rest. At 2nd level your Vile Die is a d4. It increases to a d6 at level 6, a d8 at level 10, a d10 at level 14 and a d12 at level 18.
Darkened Idiolect
Starting at 2nd level you can incorporate Dark Speech into the verbal components of spells to cause additional harmful effects to their target. To do this, roll your Vile Die and choose one of the following effects:
- Spell Attack Roll: After you roll your Vile Die, add the number rolled to your spell attack roll.
- Saving Throw: After you roll your Vile Die, subtract the number rolled from all saving throws to resist the spell.
- Damage: After you roll your Vile Die, creatures affected by the spell take additional Necrotic damage equal to twice the number rolled.
- Spell’s Level: If you cast a spell that has increased effects at higher levels, after rolling your Vile Die, the spell has the next highest effect as if it had been cast at a higher level. This does not work for spells of 5th level and above.
Fiend's Cant
Starting at 6th level, you have gained a respectable knowledge of this esoteric language. Thus, you can call upon less powerful demons and devils to your aid. As an action, roll your Vile Die. You can then summon a number of Fiends less than or equal to your Intelligence Modifier (minimum of 1) whose total Challenge Rating does not exceed your Proficiency bonus.
Wretched Dialect
As your knowledge of Dark Speech expands, so do the capabilities available to you. Starting at 10th level, you can use your action and speak a wretched phrase in Dark Speech. Roll your Vile Die and target a number of creatures equal to half of the number rolled (minimum of 1) and choose one of the following effects:
- Fear: After rolling your Vile Die, the creatures make a Wisdom saving throw or become Frightened of you for a number of rounds equal to the number rolled.
- Paralysis: After rolling your Vile Die, the creatures make a Constitution saving throw or become Paralyzed for a number of rounds equal to the number rolled.
- Blindness: After rolling your Vile Die, the creatures make a Constitution saving throw or become Blinded for a number of rounds equal to the number rolled.
- Deafness: After rolling your Vile Die, the creatures make a Constitution saving throw or become Deafened for a number of rounds equal to the number rolled.
- Charmed: After rolling your Vile Die, the creatures make a Wisdom saving throw or become Charmed by you for a number of rounds equal to the number rolled.
Nocuous Diction
Starting at 14th level, you have attained a level of knowledge of Dark Speech that includes two very malicious and physically taxing words. Once per long rest you can cast Power Word Stun or Power Word Kill without expending a spell slot. Power Word Kill, however, comes at a cost. There is a 50% chance that you are affected as well. If the spell succeeds, roll a percentile die. On a 50 or below, the Power Word Kill kills you as well. If you roll a 51 or above, you instead are not killed, but take Necrotic damage equal to the number rolled. Power Word Kill can only affect creatures whose hitpoints are less than or equal to 10x your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 10).
