Base Class: Rogue
As a sniper, you do not rush head first into the fight and battle in close quarters, instead you hang back and take out your opponents from afar. You provide covering fire for your allies, allowing them to move through dangerous space safely. You spend your time in battle laying down, waiting for the perfect time to strike and end the life of your enemies with ease.
Ranged Proficiency
Your lengthy practice with ranged weapons allows you to use any ranged weapon you see, whether you have practiced with it or not.
Upon choosing the Sniper archetype at third level you gain access to the following benefits.
Gain proficiency with every ranged weapon. This includes firearms, if used in your campaign.
You no longer have disadvantage on attack rolls while prone.
Sniper Skills
You have mastered fine techniques with your ranged weapons, and are adept at waiting for the perfect time to let loose an arrow in order to keep an area locked down, an ally safe or to take out a target with precision.
Upon choosing the Sniper archetype at third level you gain access to these abilities.
Mark a Target:
You know the right time to strike at your enemies, right before they do.
While prone, you may take your cunning action to mark a target from which you are hidden, at any point during its turn, you may make an opportunity attack against it with disadvantage. This opportunity attack acts as normal, but it also interrupts your targets action. E.G: When your target attacks an ally, you may use your reaction to make an opportunity attack, if it hits this stops the enemies attack.
Cover an Ally:
Your supreme focus allows you to keep your eyes on your allies, allowing them to safely move through enemy space.
While prone, you may take your cunning action to cover an ally, whenever a creature makes an opportunity attack against said ally, you may attack it without using your reaction. Upon a hit, the opportunity attack is interrupted, but the attackers reaction is not consumed.
Suppress an Area:
Your perceptive nature allows you to survey a wide area, poised to strike anyone who enters the space you are protecting.
While prone you may take your cunning action to mark a 30ft cone beginning from you as a suppressed area. Whenever a creature enters this suppressed area, you may make an attack of opportunity against it.
The size of the cone increases to 60 feet at sniper level 8, to 90 feet at sniper level 13, 120 feet at sniper level 17 and once more to 150 feet at sniper level 20.
The effects of these actions cease when you decide, when you move, stand up, or when you take an action(bonus actions do not end the effects).
Expert Repositioning
The nature of sniping means that you must learn to quickly adapt to situations where your target moves out of sight, so you have learnt to quickly stand up and reposition yourself to get a better angle on your targets.
At ninth level you gain access to the following benefit.
You may now stand up from being prone without expending half your movement. When you stand up in this way, however, you must make a stealth check to stay hidden if you were hidden prior.
Steady Aim
Your hands are steady, your mind is clear and your eyes are wide open. You have trained to deal with targets from afar atop a vantage point.
At thirteenth level you gain access to the following benefit.
By steadying your body on the ground you gain advantage on all ranged attacks within your normal range(the first range number), and attacks beyond that no longer impose disadvantage.
Sniper's Camoflauge.
You have spent a long time perfecting your ability to blend in with the ground and the environment, quieting your breathing, finger movements and drawstrings. Now no one can see where the arrows are raining down from.
At seventeenth level you gain access to the following benefit.
While prone, whenever you miss a ranged attack, it does not alert the enemies to your position or whether they know you are there at all. When you hit a ranged attack while prone and hidden, you must then make a stealth check with disadvantage(DC= targets passive perception), on a success the target knows of your general whereabouts, but not your exact location(you are still hidden). On a failure, you are detected and are no longer in stealth, as you would normally be.
