Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Golden Fist recognize we live in a magical world, and believe the strengths of magical artifice should benefit those whom fight with their bodies as much as those whom use weapons. They have learned to synchronize their spirits with the items they posses and channel it through every aspect of their being.
Magical Ki Foci
At 3rd level, you gain the ability to synchronize your spirit with items of magical artifice. At the end of a long rest, you may meditate upon the properties of one magic weapon, one piece of magic armor, and one wondrous item. Until the end of your next long rest, these items are absorbed into your spirit, granting you all of their magical properties.
The properties of the weapon affect your unarmed attacks (including its enhancement bonus to your attacks and damage if it has any). The properties of the armor affect your body (including its enhancement bonus to your AC if it has any). And the properties of the wondrous item apply to you as though you were attuned to it. If any of these items require attunement, you must still be attuned to them to absorb them in this fashion.
While these items are absorbed into your spirit they have no weight, are always considered to be on your person, and cannot be affected other beings unable to manipulate the astral plane. At the end of the long rest they materialize back into the material plane unless you meditate upon them again.
Additionally, your study of magical artifice gives you proficiency in Intelligence (Arcana). At 6th level, your proficiency bonus is doubled for this skill.
Empathic Artifice
At 6th level, your superior understanding of magical items allows you to master their use. You can now attune to up to four, rather than three, magic items at a time. At 11th level, this limit increases to five magic items.
Additionally, your unarmed attacks gain a bonus to all damage rolls equal to 1 plus 1 per magic item you are currently attuned to.
Metal Soul
Beginning at 11th level, your skin takes on a golden sheen, signaling your attunement to your magical foci. All non-lightning damage that you take is reduced by 3 plus 1 per magic item you are currently attuned to.
When you take lightning damage, it courses across your skin. The next unarmed attack you make deals extra lightning damage equal to 3 plus 1 per magic item you are currently attuned to.
Additionally, you no longer need to sleep and can’t be forced to sleep by any means. To gain the benefits of a long rest, you can spend all 8 hours doing light activity, such as taking watch or meditating upon your magical foci.
Liquid Metal Forms
At 17th level, you gain the ability to perfectly sync your body with your magical foci. As an action you may spend 4 ki points to transform your body into one of the following forms of rippling liquid metal (each form has its own duration):
Form of the Scout. (4 hour duration)
- Your weight decreases by 25%.
- Your movement speed is doubled.
- You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks, Dexterity checks, and Dexterity saving throws.
- You cannot be surprised.
- You can change the shape of your hands and legs at will. When you make an unarmed attack you may change it's damage type from bludgeoning to either slashing or piercing damage.
- You can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
- You no longer need to need to breathe and are immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition.
Form of the Tank. (4 minute duration)
- Your weight increases by 50%.
- Your movement speed is halved.
- You have truesight out to a range of 10 feet.
- At the start of each of your turns, you regain 5 plus 1 hit points per magic item you are currently attuned to.
- When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can make one additional attack as part of that action.
- You no longer need to need to breathe and are immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition.
