Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Some barbarians create a strong connection with the darkness, using it to fuel their rage and enhance their abilities in the darkness. These barbarians follow the Path of Shadow, an ancient tradition, forgotten to most barbarian tribes.

Barbarians who choose this path are often quiet and like to keep to themselves. Their connection with the darkness around them makes them fierce enemies to all who cross their path.

Shadow Step

Beginning when you choose this path at 3rd level, your connections to the shadows allows you to become intangible. While you are raging, you may choose to roll a d20 at the end of each of your turns (no action required). On a roll of 13 or higher, you vanish from your current plane of existence and appear in the Ethereal Plane. At the start of your next turn, and when your rage ends if you are on the Ethereal Plane, you return to an unoccupied space of your choice that you can see within 10 feet of the space you vanished from. If no unoccupied space is available within that range, you appear in the nearest unoccupied space (chosen at random if more than one space is equally near).

While on the Ethereal Plane, you can see and hear the plane you originated from, which is cast in shades of gray, and you can't see anything there more than 60 feet away. You can only affect and be affected by other creatures on the Ethereal Plane. Creatures that aren't there can't perceive you or interact with you, unless they have the ability to do so.

Eyes of the Dark

Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to see through both magical and non-magical darkness out to 60 ft.

Strength of Shadows

Starting at 6th level, when entering dim light or darkness, you gain temporary hit points equal to your levels in this class. In addition, while in dim light or darkness, you gain an extra +2 to hit and damage modifiers.

Umbral Form

At 10th level, you can blend yourself with the darkness within you. As an action on your turn, you can transform yourself into a shadow for 1 minute, or until you dismiss it as a bonus action.

While in this form, you can fit through a space as narrow as 1 inch without squeezing, move through and occupy the same space as an ally, and move through the same space of an enemy as if it were difficult terrain. While in dim light or darkness, you can also take the Hide action as a bonus action.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Dark Vengeance

Beginning at 14th level, whenever a creature hits you with an attack while you are raging, you may use your reaction to blind them until the start of your next turn. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier, and regain all expended uses on a short rest.
