Base Class: Wizard
Arcanists are wizards that focus on general magic use rather than specializing in a particular tradition.
Magical Expertise
At 2nd level, you gain proficiency in the Arcana skill if you don’t already have it. If you’re already proficient in Arcana you gain proficiency in Nature, Religion, or History (your choice). Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check that you make with the Arcana skill.
Spell Memorization
Beginning at 2nd level, choose one spell in your spellbook to memorize. This spell is always prepared and does not count against your total number of spells known. You can select an additional spell to memorize at 6th, 10th, and 14th level.
Arcane Power
Starting at 6th level, when casting a spell, either may gain advantage on a magic attack roll or cause one creature affected by the spell to suffer from disadvantage on their saving throw. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long or short rest.
Impeccable Preparation
At 10th level, you have attained a greater mastery of spell preparation. As a bonus action, you can replace one spell you have prepared with another spell from your spell book. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest. In addition, when you use your Arcane Recovery feature you may replace a number of prepared spells equal to your Intelligence modifier with other spells from your spell book.
Master of Magic
At 14th level, your knowledge of magic allows you to duplicate almost any spell. As a bonus action, you can call to mind the ability to cast one spell of your choice from any class’s spell list. The spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots, you mustn’t have it prepared, and you follow the normal rules for casting it, including expending a spell slot. If the spell isn’t a wizard spell, it counts as a wizard spell when you cast it. The ability to cast the spell vanishes from your mind when you cast it or when the current turn ends. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.
