Base Class: Bard
The Dirge is an ideal profession for those who desire to use songs of misery and sorrow to inspire Dread and despair in their enemies. The Dirge best serves his party behind the front lines where he can play mournful songs behind the protection of his allies. The Dirge’s songs focus on insults, and demoralizing enemies, diminishing their strength in battle.
Songsters Luck
When you join the College of Dirges at 3rd level, you gain the ability when you cast Vicious Mockery to add your Charisma modifier to the damage it deals on a hit.
Nefarious Wail
Also at 3rd level, you learn to disrupt enemies in battle by casting a feeling of doubt. When a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you damages an ally within 60' of you as a reaction, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to target one creature of your choice to inspire a feeling of inadequacy. When you do so, the target you can see and that can see you within 60 feet, is filled with worry causing the attack's damage to be reduced by 1d6+Charisma modifier. This effect does not stack.
The damage reduction die increases when you reach certain levels in this class, increasing to 1d8 at 5th level, 1d10 at 10th level, and 1d12 at 15th level.
Cacophony of Dismay
At 6th level, the bard learns to utilizes his dreadful melody to cause fear in the bard's foes. As an action, you release a cacophony of dismay forcing each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). A target automatically succeeds on the save if it can’t hear or see you. On a failed save, a target becomes frightened of you for 1 minute. If the frightened target takes any damage, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success. Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again.
Vile Aura
At 14th level, your appearance permanently gains a Dreadful aspect that makes you look more Vile and fierce.
In addition, as a bonus action, you can assume a magically dreadful presence for 1 minute or until you are incapacitated. For the duration, whenever any creature tries to attack you for the first time on a turn, the attacker must make a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, it can’t attack you on this turn, and it must choose a new target for its attack or the attack is wasted. On a successful save, it can attack you on this turn, but it has disadvantage on any saving throw it makes against your spells on your next turn.
Once you assume this Dreadful presence, you can’t do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
