*Note: This lore comes from a campaign setting I am working on, it does have to apply to your character*

Very few followers of gods taken their teachings and scriptures to the extreme. Those that can be referred to as ‘priests’ of the murderous religion called The Order of The Black Lotus are grand zealots of the Goddess of Balance, the one referred to as the Lady of The Black Lotus. While many seen The Order as a death cult, it is publicly acknowledged as a normal religion due to their goddess being thought of as an extension of the Goddess of Death, The Raven Queen, whose teachings are also publicly taught.

Members of The Order speak of a cosmic balance between good of evil that their goddess has domain over, a balance of neutrality that they themselves have sworn to protect by any means necessary.  Many of those willing to act for The Lady of the Black Lotus train themselves in many forms of combat and infiltration to carry out the will that comes to them in whispers, dreams and signs. They target those deemed to have caused unbalance in the eyes of their Goddess, whether through means of arcana or cruelty, though the former has caused much discontent and disagreement with the Council of The Weave. Though those more devoted to The Lady of The Black Lotus are granted boons to help with their cause… despite the aftermath that it may cause.

The Lamia is a monster from old folklore from the original settlers of  Sentralis, an alluring creature that could control vermin and brambles with a tendency to stalk the night streets with intent to lead children and foolish travellers back into their lair, commonly making promises of their desires and offering a rose before snatching them and devouring them.

While this folklore has persisted to modern times, it was quite common for some members of the Order of The Black Lotus to be nicknamed as a ‘Lamia’. These individuals like to charm their foes, luring them in with sweet nothings and their wilds, distracting them from the attack from the shadows; Becoming a literal boogeyman. An infamous ‘Lamia’ of the Order was a tabaxi referred to as ‘Nine-Tail’, a sadistic killer that operated in the towns around the Jernhand Mountains and the city Imperia. Nine-Tail was known to seduce her targets to the point they would do anything for her, she would proceed to summon rats or dowse them in alchemic fire before watching them be eaten or burnt alive before her. Unfortunately for The Order, she was killed by Slanen Imperial Guard for a heinous mass killing that wasn’t sanctioned by The Lady of The Black Lotus. Fortunately for others,  no one would ever have to bury an eviscerated loved one kill by Nine-tail.

A Rose In One Hand, Dagger In Other

At 3rd level, you begin to put into practise the alluring words needed to lure your prey in. As an action, you use your silver tongue to try to allure a targeted creature within 30 foot of you that can hear and understand you. It must make a Wisdom Saving Throw (DC: 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma Modifier) or it becomes charmed by you for one minute. (This does not prevent the charmed creature from taking actions or attacking your allies)

Brambled Swarm

Becoming more like the fairy tale that you are nicknamed after, you come into control of the vermin and weeds below you. At 9th level, you can summon within 30 foot of you, a swarm of rats or mobile carnivorous plants or a small blight of creatures of your choice (This swarm is classed as an ally of yours). This swarm takes up a 5 square foot space with a 30-foot movement and can move into a space occupied by another creature. When the summoned swarm moves into a space occupied by a creature, the creature must make a Strength Saving Throw to try and deter the swarm from approaching them (DC: 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity) or takes piercing damage equal to your Sneak Attack bonus, they take further damage if they end their turn in the same space. If they succeed, the swarm moves to an adjacent space that is unoccupied.

If the affected creature has been charmed due to your ‘Rose In One Hand, Dagger In Other’ feature, they roll with disadvantage as they become locked in your allure. This swarm lasts 1 minute and requires a long rest before being used again.

Alluring Presence

At 13th level, you may use your ‘Rose In One Hand, Dagger In Other’ feature twice per long rest instead of once per long rest.

You present a rose and the wants and needs of your target, drawing in the weak-willed ones that cannot resist. Creatures that are charmed by you within 30 feet will attempt to move closer to you if possible.

The Thing That Goes Bump In The Night

You become an obsession in your charmed targets and a nightmare to those who watch you spin your web around your prey. At 17th level, the creatures affected by your ‘Rose In One Hand, Dagger In Other’ feature are charmed until they reach 0 hit points and will attack enemies if they are within melee range of you.

Also, once per long rest, if a creature would make a melee attack on you while a creature that is charmed from your ‘Rose In One Hand, Dagger In Other’ feature is within 5ft of you, you may make a Dexterity Saving Throw against the attack roll, if you succeed you may redirect the attack to the charmed target.
