Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Your spirit has always been drawn to the blade but you have always been better at combat from a distance, so you train yourself to use the blades of your fascination from a distance and unlock a form of magic from deep inside yourself that you name the BladeForge. You can feel the steel and heat of the forge rush through your viens when you use your magic. This form of magic has come at a mighty cost though, you find yourself no longer able to hold a bow or crossbow, in fact holding any ranged weapon burns your flesh (1d8, fire) as if your very soul rejects any weapon that is not a blade and magic beyond your forge may be learned but you may never cast it, burning your mind if you try(1d12, psychic). Steel is your body and fire is your blood.

Blades are your mastery and you are able to and only able to utilize these blade types as a BladeForge, (shortsword, longsword, greatsword, spear, trident, scimitar, rapier, dagger)

you are also limited to light armor as anything heavier makes you feel as if you are melting.

Blade creation

You gain the ability at 3rd level to take the time to study a blade over the duration of a long rest to learn the properties and how to replicate the weapon. All weapons you create have zero monetary value even though the schematics retain the rarity of the blade they are only replicas and cannot be sold. You can store the schematics of up to 3 weapons in your mind, expanding to 5 at level 7, 7 at level 10, 10 at level 15 and and 15 at level 18. You can use your inner forge to any weapon from your schematics in your hand or emerging from a portal within 5 feet of you this expands to 10 feet at level 18.

Blade firing

At third level as an action you can fire your blades within their portals at almost as if it were an arrow from your old bow. Your blades have a minimum range of your dex and a maximum range of of 2x your dex, increasing to 3x at lvl 10 and 4x at level 18.

At level three you can launch one blade per attack, 3 at level 6, 5 at level 10, 7 at level 15 and 10 at level 18. Each blade does its weapon type in damage plus a d4 of its damage type that scales to a d6 at 6, d8 at 10, d12 at 15 and a d20 at level 18, for other feature information these die are referred to as the blade die

this feature can be used as a simple attack action and can be used with the second attack feature, for all intensive purposes this feature is considered a simple ranged weapon attack and is rolled like one, this attack can be used up to a number of times equal to your fighter level per long rest

the blades are dismissed within half a second of hitting a creature

Steel is my body

starting at level 7 as a reaction you can summon any number of crossed blades (minimum of 2) as a shield to protect yourself from an attack, these must be of different blades from your schematics, you can use the shield to reduce the damage dealt to you from an attack by rolling and equal number of your blade dice to the schematics used for the shield and reducing the damage by that amount, but at the cost of shattering the blades and destroying those blades schematics in your mind.

Fire is my blood

beggining at 10th level you also have become more adept at learning the makeup of blades and only take a duration of a short rest to memorize a schematic. Your forge now creates blades that are considered magical by default for the purpose of resistances, and your schematics can now take on the magical properties that the base blade held.

As well you can now as a bonus action destroy a mental schematic to be able to heal yourself for a number of blade die equal to schematics destroyed but as the metal heals you it slows you down reducing your movement speed by 10 until your next long rest. visually you create a blade from your forge and plunge it onto your own chest where it is melted and patches your wounds healing you but remaining metallic in appearance until your next long rest

Iron Chain prison

at 15th level you gain the ability to create iron chains within your forge and attach them to a spear type of blade, you can select a target within your blade firing range and launch the spear between portals, it must make a strength saving throw of 15 to break the chain or a dex saving throw of 13 to escape the chains. if the target fails it is held in place by the chains and cannot move. it can remake the check on its turn. you must maintain concentration to keep your target imprisoned. while your target is imprisoned your allies have advantage on the target. this feature can be used twice per long rest.

maelstrom of blades

At 18th level You have become a master of blades and can create your schematics by simply looking at a blade for around 5 seconds, no longer even needing to hold the blade. Once per day you can summon all the blades of your schematics for an all out attack, adding a d6 fire for each with them being still hot from your forge. this is very taxing to you though and adds 2 points of exhaustion to you and you shatter 3 schematic.

Iron Chain Execution

alternatively to the maelstrom of blades once per day you, if you can hold you iron chain prison target for three straight turns you can gain two points of exhaustion and shatter 5 schematics to execute your target immediately dropping their hp to 0. visually you command the chains themselves to sprout blades that tear into your targets neck and beheads them, if the target has no neck the blades shred the entire body of the target.
