Base Class: Barbarian
Taught by the Lord of blades, you are capable of turning into a maelstrom of serrated edges that rend all before you.
Restriction: Wareforged Only
Only Warforged can become a Herald of Blades. The Lord of blades will never train a non-warforged in his own combat style.
Your DM can lift this restriction to better suit the campaign. The restriction exists for the Forgotten Realms. It might not apply to your DM’s setting or your DM’s version of the Realms.
Bladed Carapace
When you choose this path at 3rd level, you gain the ability to use a Bladed Carapace (see the “Bladed Carapace” sidebar).
While you are wearing a Bladed Carapace and are raging, you can use a bonus action to make one melee weapon attack with your armor blades against a target within 5 feet of you. If the attack hits, the spikes deal 1d4 piercing damage. You use your Strength modifier for the attack and damage rolls.
Additionally, when you use the Attack action to grapple a creature, the target takes 1d6 + STR modifier slashing damage if your grapple check succeeds. A creature that grapples the Herald of Blades also takes 1d6 + STR modifier slashing damage. A creature takes 1d6 + STR modifier slashing damage if it starts its turn grappling or being grappled by the Herald of Blades.
Bladed Carapace
Bladed armor is a rare type of Heavy armor made for Heralds. It consists of a solid steel plates and leggings covered with serrated blades that are usually made of metal.
Immunity: Critical
Cost: 75 gp
AC: 17
Stealth: Disadvantage
Weight: 85 lb.
Bladed Wings
Beginning at 6th level, whenever you rage and are wearing a bladed carapace you also activate a pair of bladed wings from your back. As a bonus action per turn you may use your wings to attack a single creature in melee range once. The bladed wing does 1d6+ your STR modifier. At level 15, you may make 2 bladed wing attacks when you spend a bonus action to use them
Blade Dash
The Herald moves up to his speed without provoking opportunity attacks, then makes one melee attack. He can make one bladed wing attack against up to his Barbarian level/3 rounded down creatures he moves past. If the Herald makes a charge attack if he moves at least 10 feet straight toward a target before making his first attack(non-wing); add his barbarian level/2 rounded down to the hit roll and add his Barbarian level to the damage roll. Creatures hit by the charge must roll a strength check DC = to the barbarian's level or be knock prone/shoved 10 feet away.
Bladed Rebuke
Starting at 14th level, when a creature within 5 feet of you hits you with a melee attack, the attacker takes 3 piercing damage if you are raging, aren’t incapacitated, and are wearing a bladed carapace.
