Monk
Base Class: Monk

The popularity of this martial art was partly due to the demeanor of the northern folk, who valued personal and family honor enough to kill for it. It was also due in no small part to the relative ease of obtaining a staff as well as the versatility of such a tool: a staff or stick was almost universally present, used as a support for the long daily walks, to help cross the rivers, by the shepherds to protect the cattle from wild animals, and so on.

The origins of the Way of the Stick are civil techniques of combat, used in times of war by foot soldiers who were often poor peasants who could not afford a better weapon. These techniques were refined and perfected by the monks of the Way of the Stick

You are proficient with all stick weapon comprises all simple light weapons could be any staff, quarterstaff, javelin, spear, club (single or dual). Every Way of the Stick monk has to learn how to make his weapon, you gain proficiency with carpenter tools.

Varridela

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use a Bonus Action to start a series of coordinated parry, attack and movement called the Varridela. While in this dance you gain the following benefits

Weapon Flurry - Your stick counts unarmed attacks.

Impatient Defence - You are under the effect of Patient Defence.

Transferring Parry - When a creature misses you with a melee attack, the momentum is transferred to your stick, you can spend a ki point as a reaction to make a melee weapon attack at the same creature, if you miss, your stick gains momentum and your next attack has advantage, provided its not a critical miss.

The Varridela lasts for 1 minute, and ends early if the monk doesn’t use its movement until the end of its turn. You can start the Varridela 3 times before a long rest, this number grows to 4 at 6th level, 5 at 12th level, 6 at 17th level. At 20th level you can start the Varridela any number of times.

One with the Stick

At 6th level your attacks with a stick count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

Once on each of your turns when you hit a target with your stick, you can spend 1 Ki point to cause one of the following effects:

  • Deal extra damage to the target equal to your Martial Arts die.
  • The target must succeed at a Dex save or be knocked prone.
  • The target must contest a disarm attack or have their weapon knocked from their hands.

Kinto the Stick

At 11th level your Varridela skills are exalted with each foe you defeat, whenever you bring a creature to 0HP during the Varridela you regain 1 temporary Ki point. All regained Ki points in this manner are expended when the Varridela ends.

Incontestable Opponence

At 17th level, you gain the ability to make an overwhelming number of attacks against a group of enemies. When you use your Flurry of Blows, you can make up to three additional attacks (up to a total of five Flurry of Blow attacks), provided you move between each attack. This ability automatically starts the Varridela if not already in progress
