Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

You have learned to harness shadows to transform into certain beasts and travel short distances using shadows.

Innocuous Form

When you take this Roguish Archetype at 3rd level you gain the ability to assume the form of either a cat, raven, spider, rat or bat. Doing so requires an action and cannot be done if you are encumbered. When you transform all your equipment that you are wearing or carrying will merge into your form - you stop gaining any benefit from such equipment and they cannot be accessed while merged into your form. Your game statistics are replaced by those of the new form with the following exceptions:

  • You keep your personality and alignment.
  • You retain your mental ability scores of Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma.
  • You keep your hit points and hit dice.
  • You keep your proficiencies as well as gaining those of the new form. Where the form has a proficiency that you also have, you use the higher bonus of the two.
  • You can end the effect as an action.

When the effect ends you return to your normal form if the space you are in can accomodate your normal form's size. The form ends if you choose to end it as an action, if you become incapacitated or take any damage.

Defensive Shadows

Starting at 3rd level, while you are in dim light or darkness and would be hit by an attack you may use your reaction to impose disadvantage to that attack.

Venomous

At 9th level, you gain the ability to infuse your attacks with poison. Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack that deals piercing or slashing damage, you can cause the attack to deal an extra 1d8 poison damage to the target. When you reach 14th level, the extra damage increases to 2d8.

Shadow Strike

Upon reaching 13th level you have learned to travel through shadows. While in an area of dim light or darkness you can use a bonus action to teleport to an unoccupied space of your choice that is also in dim light or shadow and is within 60 ft of you. The space you target can be a place you can see, one you can visualize, or one you can describe by stating distance and direction, such as "30 feet straight downward" or "upward to the northwest at a 45- degree angle, 50 feet." You can bring along objects as long as their weight doesn't exceed what you can carry. This is silent and does not break stealth. Once you have the used this feature, the next attack you make before the end of your current turn has advantage. You retain use of this feature in your Innocuous Form.

Shadow Beasts

After reaching 17th level you gain the ability to become a swarm or a panther. As an action you can become a Swarm of Insects (Spiders), Swarm of Bats, Swarm of Rats, Swarm of Ravens or a panther. This follows the same rules as Innocuous Form except it does not end when you take damage, you gain temporary hit points equal to the average hit points of the chosen form - these are lost if the effect ends, the effect ends if you drop to 0 hit points, you retain the Venomous feature, your Swarm forms are Large instead of Medium, and your Panther form retains the Shadow Strike feature.
