Base Class: Rogue
A duelist is a mix of the fighter and rogue classes—a powerful and nimble swordsman. The duelist is a master of swordsmanship, striking his opponents with a deadly flourish.
Fancy Footwork
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you learn how to land a strike and then slip away without reprisal. During your turn, if you make a melee attack against a creature, that creature can't make opportunity attacks against you for the rest of your turn.
Advanced Dueling
At 3rd level, you gain the Dueling fighting style.
If you already have the Dueling fighting style, you instead gain one of the following effects based on the weapon you wield:
+1 bonus to AC whilst you have a weapon in one hand and no weapons or shield in the other.
+2 bonus to damage rolls when you are wielding two weapons or one two-handed weapon.
Parry
At 9th level, when another creature hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to add your half your proficiency bonus (rounded down) to your AC for that attack, potentially causing it to miss you.
Counter Attack
At 13th level, when another creature fails to hit you with a melee attack because of your Parry ability, you can make a melee attack against that creature, if they are in range, as part of the same reaction. You can only use this ability an amount of times equal to your Charisma modifier every short rest.
Challenge
When you reach 17th level, you can challenge 3 different enemies per long rest, goading them into fighting you. They must roll a saving throw equal to 10 + your CHA modifier, and there is no effect if they pass. If they fail, you have advantage on attack rolls for the next minute.
