Monk
Base Class: Monk

This style is commonly referred to as Water Boxing, as its forms and movements are all as fluid as running water.  Indeed, the practitioner must ‘become’ the very nature of water – soft and tranquil one second, and then thunderously powerful the next. Adaptable and formless.

This discipline is not just a string of techniques – it is a language, expressing martial arts through meaning. You are functioning in relation to an opponent and an always moving, changing circumstance.  You must understand not only the 'how', but the 'why' of what you do; awareness and flexibility are key. Each of these forms has a definite purpose. The foundational doctrine continues to work the mind, and then ki, the body, is used to develop emptiness in movement and complete harmony, almost as the void of the ocean's depths. It cannot be emphasized enough, that this is an extremely sophisticated combat art.

Dance the Waves

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you develop a deep affinity with water. You gain a swimming speed equal to your walking speed and using Unarmed Strikes underwater no longer imposes Disadvantage.

Ride the Tide

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Acrobatics skill if you do not have it already. Additionally, whenever you use your Flurry of Blows ability, you can also Disengage as part of that.

Flowing like Water

At 6th level, you gain the ability to freely Dash as a Bonus Action a number of times a day equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1). While using this ability, all attacks of opportunity are made at Disadvantage against you. Additionally, getting up from being knocked prone only costs you 5ft. of movement instead of half.

Bounty of the Sea

Starting at 11th Level, you have spent enough time on the open seas to be able to anticipate the movements of a listing ship and use your movement to take advantage of it.  When you have to make an ability check, attack roll, or a saving throw; you can spend 2 ki points to cancel any Disadvantage. You can also spend an additional 3 ki points (5 total) to gain Advantage on the same roll.

Crashing Waves

At 17th level, you can exploit a creature’s weaknesses, crashing into them as a storm surge smashes upon the beach, pulverizing them under a raging deluge of unarmed strikes. Whenever you use your Flurry of Blows feature, you can make 3 unarmed attacks instead of 2.
