Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Naturally barbarians are seen as brute and reckless fighters who uses their sheer strength to break anything in their path, but there are those who, despite being born into a barbaric lifestyle, become attuned to natural magical energies around them and once embraced, follows the Path of the Primal. Channeling their inner fury and natural wrath to bolster their magic, they can easily match the destruction brought forth by the great weapons of their kind or possibly even deliver a greater result unmatched by any weapon or brute strength combined.

Arcane Rage

Starting at 3rd level upon choosing this Path, you delve into the arcane arts honing them and using your inner strength to match that of its strength with the result being a magic that is as pure as your brute strength. Unlike your other barbarian brethren, your form of rage is limited compared to their blood lust-like fury resulting to your Rage to only last for half of the duration but, upon reaching 14th level you become capable of raging as normal.

Spellcasting Ability

Strength is your spellcasting ability for your spells, you learned to attune your strength in combination of your natural talent with the arcane arts to manifest a destructive magic. You use your Strength whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Strength modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier

Learning and Using Spells

A Barbarian following this Path can only muster to cast spells that cause primarily destruction. You cannot learn spells that do not deal damage as it does not align with your strength. Upon obtaining this Path, you immediately gain access to 3 spells of 1st level of your choice and you can only cast them while raging. Regardless of which level, it is cast at a level higher than the spell, you may choose to expend a Rage in order to cast the spell one level higher with three levels being the highest possible.

Any spells you cast while raging, you add your Rage Damage to your damage roll.

Even with your natural talent for the arcane arts,  your barbaric-bloodline inhibits your capacity to expand your spells, but instead you may choose to replace any of your existing spells with a new one upon reaching certain levels. At 6th level, grants access to spells that are 2nd level or lower. At 11th level, grants access to spells that are 3rd level or lower. At 16th level, grants access to spells that are 4th level or lower.

Grit

Beginning at 6th level, your body being a source of your magic also becomes a source of natural defense against the arcane arts. Each time you receive damage from a spell, you reduce the damage equal to half of your Barbarian level (rounded up) + Strength modifier and if you are raging, also add your Rage damage, then roll a d20, if the damage you receive is less than what you rolled, you gain an additional Rage. At 20th level, instead of gaining an additional Rage, the result of your roll also reduces the damage you receive.

Overload

At 10th level, your Brutal Strength feature also applies to spells you cast.

Primal Fury

At 14th level, you can unleash a spell into its purest destructive form in exchange of straining your physical body. You may cast one of your spells to be at 9th level after which you immediately stop raging and take damage equal to 2d8 + your Barbarian level + Rage damage as a recoil from the spell. You also reduce the number of times you can Rage by half (rounded up), unable to use that spell for the rest of the battle and unable to enter Rage for 2 rounds.

Upon using this feature, you must finish a Long Rest before you can use it again.
