Base Class: Sorcerer

A blood mage uses sacrifices to enhance their spell casting abilities. This sacrifice often times is of their own blood, but when capable they will utilize the life force of those around them. All sacrifices must be made with blood and can cost dearly. The deeper the cut the better the spell. If you're willing to spill blood, might as well spill it for the right cause. 

Blood Letting

You have learned the first steps of blood magic. Blood must be paid for this magic to work. You take 1d4 slashing damage per blood mage level. For each die of damage you take you heal 1d6 hp. This also cures negative status effects of: poison, frightened, and diseases. This may be used a number of times equal to you blood mage level. It is regained after a long rest. 
  

Blood Casting

When you cast a spell that causes damage you can take 1d4 slashing damage, up to a max of your blood mage level, and adds that amount of damage taken to the spell casted. 

i.e. 4th level sorcerer can cast witch bolt at 1st level and take 4d4 damage (taking 8 damage) and deal 1d12 lightning damage (regular cast) +8 lightning damage (from blood magic).

at 6th level this can be used on another willing creature

at 14th level this can be used on any creature

Blood Sacrifice

When you kill a creature with a melee attack you get to cast a spell (which you have access and prepared to) without material components and as a free action. The level of the spell is equal to 1/2 the CR of the creature, minimum 1.

 

If you sacrifice a bunny you can cast a first level spell

If you kill a pit fiend with a melee attack you can cast a 9th level spell.

One Component

You no longer need material components, but any spells that have materials with a given value you take damage equal to cost / 5 = health lost. 

Ritualistic Restoration

This ritual takes 20 minutes to cast and uses ALL 18 or more Hit Die. Roll all HD and take damage equal to the total rolled. This damage is considered slashing, cannot be reduced, and taken all at once. If during the casting of this your HP = 0 the features fails and you drop to an unconscious state. If it succeeds then you and those within a 20 foot radius gain benefits of a long rest (including you regaining half you HD)

Once this feature has been used it can not be used again for 1 week
