Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards who founded the College of the Alpine Call came from small villages in the mountains where they spent their days herding sheep and oxen. The soon found themselves to be outcasts of the bardic community. Was it their smell? Their demeanor? Or was it their powerful voices that no one seemed to enjoy?

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of the Alpine Call at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Constitution saving throws. Also, you gain proficiency in “yodeling” as an improvised musical instrument.  You have learned how to rhythmically weave the incantations of spells into your beautiful yodeling tunes. While utilizing yodeling as a spellcasting focus, you can ignore the vocal components of spells in addition to the material components (apart from rituals).

Yodeling (for the sake of roleplaying) is defined as a form of singing or calling marked by rapid alternation between the normal voice and falsetto. The songs performed when yodeling should have few (if any) lyrics.

Disarming Voice

Also, at 3rd level, on your turn you can expand a use of one of your Bardic Inspiration as an Action in order to try and disrupt and distract your opponents by creating a thunderous call which can be heard up to 100ft away.  Choose a creature that you can see within range  and roll your Bardic Inspiration die. That creature must immediately make a Constitution saving throw against your Spell Save DC, subtracting the number rolled on your die from the total. On a failed save choose one of the following effects:

  • The creature cannot take reactions until the start of your next turn.
  • The creature immediately breaks concentration on a spell.
  • The creature drops an item it is holding (if the creature is holding more than one item, it chooses which item is dropped).

A creature which cannot hear you automatically succeeds its save.

Echoes of the Valley

You have mastered the art of throwing your voice and using acoustics to fool your friends and confuse your enemies. Starting at 6th level, you learn the Minor Illusion cantrip if you do not already know it. Additionally, while within an enclosed space (such as a hallway, cavern, dungeon, etc) if you use Minor Illusion to create a sound, the spell has the following changes applied:

  • The range of the spell is extended to up to 60ft so long as it is still within the enclosed space
  • Creatures have Disadvantage on Investigation rolls to determine that the effect is an illusion
  • Instead of creating an illusion, you can make a ranged spell attack against a creature, dealing 1d10 thunder damage on a hit. This attack ignores half-cover.

Voice of the Summit

At 14th level, when you cast a spell while utilizing yodeling as your spellcasting focus, you can change the damage type of that spell to Thunder damage. When you cast a spell which deals Thunder damage (inherently or after being changed by this feature) you can reroll any 1s on the damage dice, but must keep the new roll.
