Base Class: Monk

(This archetype is still in the early phases of development) The Wardancer is an old monastic tradition, created during the last great wars. Like other monks the war-dancer channels ki thru their body to do amazing things, but they have gone a step further. War mages have complex tattoos in their bodies, these act as magic channels for the monks ki to flow thru creating effects beyond any normal creatures ki control.

War Magic

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells. As an action, you can spend 1ki point to cast shield of ki strike. Or 2 ki points to cast enlarge/reducepass without trace, or silence, without providing material components. Additionally, you gain the minor illusion cantrip if you don’t already know it.

This is a modification of shadow art, it uses the same mechanic but with slightly different spells. The them is sort of a monk designed to fight on a magical battle field.

Wind walk

By channeling ki into their feet a war dancer may walk on the wind itself.

This ability solves one of the big issues for martial characters in 5e, not being able to get close enough to the bad guy at later levels. I realize being able to fly at will seems like a strong ability, at level 5 casters do gain the ability to fly so it isnt crazy for a character to have this at 6. I would be open to having this costing 3 ki points at level 6, and the ki cost being reduced to zero (at will ability) at lv 11)

Again this is somewhat based off of the way of shadows ability shadow step, they are both designed to powerfully increase mobility, but instead of teleportation wind walk aims to give the character a fly speed equal to their walking speed.

Ki Empowered body

By 11th level, you have learned to reinforce your body with the ki energy that flows through you. My mediating at the end of a short or long rest you can change the flow of ki in your body to provide one of the following benefits (you may select two benefits at level 15).

additional attack action + double movement + does not provoke oportunity attacks from any creature you have attempted to hit that round.
defense additonal AC +3
offense
additional 2d6 per melee attack
resistance
resistance to 3 type of damage
hyperfocus
gain expertise with two abilities you have proficiency in
healing ki
you gain a pool of energy you may use to heal yourself or others the pool is equal to 3 times your monk level in hit points (basically a crappy version of lay on hands)

 

Mage Slayer

for the cost of 5 ki points the charachter can cast anti magic field as an action. This uses the same mechanic as shadow art, sacrifice ki a spell slot. 

Anti magic field will function normally, but will not effect the war dancers manipulation or use of Ki.
