Base Class: Bard

Bards from the collage of cards are gamblers by nature. They crave the thrill of the unknown, even more when the stakes are high. Bards from this collage will often travel from city to city to gamble in different dens. 

Arcane deck

At 3rd level you master the are of manipulating your magic through a deck of card. You gain proficiency with playing cards and can use them as a spell focus. You also gain slight of hand proficiency if you do not have it already.

You need a standard deck of 54 playing cards. The deck should contain 52 cards plus 2 jokers. As you use these features you need to have a hand of cards, a shuffled deck and a discard pile.


 

Card sharks hand

As a bonus action, You can expend a use of your bardic inspiration to draw cards from your deck equal to the number you roll on your bardic inspiration die. You may use an action to infuse one of these cards with arcane energy and make a range spell attack with it (Range 20/60 ft) The attack is considered magical for the purpose's of overcoming resistances. If you hit, the target suffers an effect according to the face of the card as per the arcane deck table.

Face value

  • 2-10. Deal damage equal to the number on the card + your charisma modifier.
  • Jack. Deal damage equal to your charisma modifier and the target must succeed a strength saving throw or fall prone.
  • Queen. Deal damage equal to your charisma modifier and must make a charisma saving throw or be charmed for 1 round.
  • King. Deal damage equal to your charisma modifier and cast command on the target without a spell slot.
  • Ace. Deal damage equal to your charisma modifier. You then draw a card and throw it at the same target.
  • Joker. Roll on the wild magic table. On a 99 or 00, regain all your bardic inspiration. 

When you use a card you place it in the discard pile. You regain all your cards and reshuffle your deck on a long rest

Spade: piercing damage

Diamond: slashing damage

Club: bludgeoning damage

Heart: force damage


 

 

Dealer's gambit

At 6th level, if you use your action to throw a card from your hand, you can use a bonus action to throw one directly from your deck without looking at it and make a ranged spell attack, if you hit your target, look at the card and proceed as normal. You must have no cards in your hand to use this ability.

Nothing up my sleeve

At 14th level, when you use your bardic inspiration to redraw a new hand, the min you can draw is 2. After you draw, you can choose to discard your entire hand and draw a new one. You can only do this once per long or short rest.
