Monk
Base Class: Monk

This monastic order is birthed from a dedication to knowledge, with the core tenant being that knowing the secrets and wisdoms of the world is the secret to true inner peace. The Monasteries of the Arcania are lined with shelves upon shelves of books with the followers of the order recording current political affairs, studying the mistakes of the past and discovering the wonders of Xolire.

Monks of the Sight strive to follow perfectly in the footsteps of the Lady of the Library, Iestara the Goddess of Knowledge, in order to stay neutral in the world of man and putting study and knowledge before all else. Due to these qualities, it's not uncommon for monks of this order to be sent across the country, acting as advisors and council to various important diplomats.

Curious Soul

Starting at 3rd level when you choose this tradition, you gain the ability to harness your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells granted to you by the Lady of the Library.

As an action you can expend 1 ki point to cast detect magic or identify, or you can expend 2 ki points to cast locate animals or plants, locate object or see invisibility. You cast all of these spells at their lowest level and you don't need to provide any material components when you cast spells this way. Your spellcasting ability for these spells is Wisdom and if the spell that you cast requires concentration, you must maintain it as normal.

Foretelling Defense

By 6th level, your constant study and focus has allowed Iestara to share her visions of the future with you.

When you're targeted by an attack that requires an attack roll of any kind, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack. You must declare that you are using this ability before you know the result of the roll and you can use this ability a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1 use), regaining all uses when you finish a short or long rest.

Forceful Stun

Starting at 11th level, you learn how to target a creature's mind as well as its body, inflicting additional damage to those that you have stunned.

Every time that a creature fails their constitution saving throw against your Stunning Strike ability, they take an additional 3d8 psychic damage. At 14th level, the damage increases to 4d8 and at 17th level, it increases to 5d8.

Astral Strike

Beginning at 17th level, your sight is enhanced by the Arcania herself, allowing you to see and wrench at your target's very soul.

Once per turn when you use your action to attack a creature with an unarmed strike or a melee monk weapon, you can expend up to 10 ki points after you land the attack to force your target to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save the target takes 1d10 radiant damage per ki point you expended and they become stunned for a number of rounds equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1 round), taking half as much damage on a successful save and not becoming stunned. A stunned creature may remake the saving throw at the end of each of their turns, ending the effect on a success.

This ability has no effect on undead, constructs or any creature that doesn't contain a soul within its physical body.
