Base Class: Fighter
Elite warriors of the Githyanki people, most are fanatical in their devotion to the lich queen Vlaakith, but a rare few shun her ways and ascend to knighthood through sheer determination and mental discipline. The true mark of any Githyanki knight is their Silver Sword, a gleaming blade willed into existence only through mastery of their psionic gift.
Bonus Proficiency
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in an Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma skill of your choice. Alternatively, you may learn the Draconic language.
Psionic Honing
Starting at 3rd level, you have learned to extend attacks beyond the edge of your blade using psionic energy. As a bonus action on your turn, you can do additional damage on a hit with a melee weapon until the end of the current turn. When you do so, you add 1d6. This increases when you reach certain levels in this class, increasing to 2d6 at 10th level and 3d6 at 15th level.
You can use this feature five times, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.
Sound Mind
Starting at 7th level, your mental discipline and attention to detail allow you to excel in social situations. Whenever you make a Charisma (Persuasion) check, you gain a bonus to the check equal to your Intelligence modifier.
Your self-control also causes you to gain proficiency in Intelligence saving throws. If you already have this proficiency, you instead gain proficiency in Wisdom or Charisma saving throws (your choice).
Determined Mind
Starting at 10th level, when you roll initiative and have no uses of Psionic Honing remaining, you regain one use.
Mental Breakthrough
Starting at 15th level, you experience a breakthrough in your psionic gifts. Once per long rest, you may cast Telekinesis and Plane Shift without material components. You may also cast Tongues a number of times per long rest equal to your Intelligence modifier.
Silver Sword
You have mastered your psionic training to the extent that you have manifested your Silver Sword. In ancient times, gith knights created special weapons to combat their mind flayer masters. These silver swords channel the force of the wielder’s will, dealing psychic as well as physical damage. A githyanki can’t become a knight until they master the singular discipline needed to will such a blade into existence, which requires 6 hours of uninterrupted meditation.
A silver sword is equivalent to a greatsword, and takes on the properties of a +3 greatsword in the hands of its creator. This is a magic weapon attack. On a critical hit against a target in an astral body (as with the astral projection spell), the sword can cut the silvery cord that tethers the target to its material body, instead of dealing damage. If a knight is separated from their sword, they may summon it back to them after 10 minutes of meditation, as long as it is on the same plane of existence. If the knight and sword are on separate planes of existence, or if the sword is ever destroyed (requires a DC 27 Strength Check), the knight takes 6d6 psychic damage from the backlash. If they survive, they can manifest a new sword after 6 hours of meditation. The original sword, if it still exists, fades into wisps of memory.
In the eyes of the githyanki, each silver sword is a priceless relic and a work of art. Githyanki knights will hunt down and destroy any non-githyanki that dares to carry or wield a silver sword, reclaiming it for their people.
