Base Class: Monk

monk dances between a way of strikes, seemingly unaware of there own movements, yet perfectly fluid in motion. The dust settles, and the innumerable foes lie dead on the ground. The monk walks away, perfectly calm, to continue their day.

The Way of Innermost Strength is unlocked in moments of insurmountable trial. One can only train their body and mind to perfection to prime themselves to unlock it. Those who enter the state may not even be aware of it, as their mind goes into a state of flow and reaction.

Monk Subclass Levels:
3rd Level: State of Oneness
6th Level: Reactive Flow (2nd reaction)
11th Level: Focused Trance, Improved State of Oneness (3rd reaction)
17th Level: Ten Thousand Strikes (4th reaction)

State of Oneness

Beginning at 3rd level, you are able to pull yourself out the normal mental space and achieve a state of total reactivity, with an empty mind but rapid thought. As a bonus action, you may expend 2 Ki points to enter the State of Oneness for up to for up to 1 minute, gaining the following benefits while in the state:

  • You may add your Wisdom Modifier(min.1) to your AC
  • When an opponent misses an attack roll against you and is within 5 ft. of you, you may use your reaction to make a single melee attack with a weapon you are proficient in, including an unarmed strike. You may not add or modify the attack in any way, such as through Stunning Strike

    You may exit this state early as a bonus action on your turn, and it ends early if you fall unconscious or are incapacitated.

    When you reach 11th level, you may Stunning Strike on these reactionary strikes.

Reactive Flow

Beginning at 6th level, your ability to react to your surroundings and intercept in coming attacks has become honed to a razor's edge. When an opponents makes an attack roll against you, you may instead attempt to dodge the attack entirely. You may spend one Ki point to make a Dexterity Saving Throw against the attack, taking half damage on a success, or full on a failure.

Furthermore, you gain an additional reaction for the purposes of interacting with this subclasses features. You gain a 3rd reaction for these purposes at 11th level, and a 4th at 17th level.

Focused Trance

Beginning at 11th level, your mind and body are primed for slipping to a combat ready state at a moments notice, and you can intensify the state to a greater degree. You can now slip into the State of Oneness as a reaction to an creature making an attack roll against you. Doing so gives you resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing until the start of your next turn.

Improved State of Oneness

Additionally at 11th level, the strikes you make against foes who attack you erringly now carry the precision and focus to lock their bodies in place. You can now Stunning Strike against foes who you attack as a reaction to them missing you with an attack roll within range.

Ten Thousand Strikes

Beginning at 17th level, you extreme reflexes have grown to supernatural degrees, allowing you punish each failed strike an opponents makes with an onslaught of attacks. While in the State of Oneness, you can now continue attacking, expending 1 Ki point per additional attack to a max. of 3 when you use your reaction to attack a creature who missed you with an attack roll.

Furthermore, when you reduce an enemy to zero hit points or score a critical hit, you regain 1 Ki point.
