Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Some choose to use their will and zeal to bring judgement to evil, and smite the unworthy. But even those of fierce souls can have a tender and loving heart. Paladins who have taken the Oath of Kindness want most of all to bring more good into the world through acts of generosity and love. These gentle warriors fill a number of different roles in the community: voices for the poor, relief to the suffering, community leaders, etc. Whether or not a god factors into their Oath, these paladins see the greatest traits of mortals to be their capacity for kindness to one another. The world is sometimes hard and cruel, they say, so we should lend aid to those that are suffering in it.

Tenants of Kindness

The tenets of the Oath of Kindness represent the paladin's desire to do good for all others.

Empathy: Awareness of the suffering of others is essential to assuaging that suffering. Always keep your ears, eyes and hearts open to those around you.

Generosity: It is easy to forget your blessings. Share them with others who need them, so that their goodness may be expanded upon.

Understanding: Although the world has many sources of evil, always understand that many mortals do evil because they have been pushed to far from a place where they can do good. One cannot be judged alone by how they are seen.

Responsibility: Even when you feel as if you cannot be kind, you must sometimes shoulder the heavy burden of choosing what is best for the most people. Always try to save everyone, even at cost to yourself, but don't sacrifice many for the sake of the few. This is the hardest truth to face.

Responsive Support: Your spirit can act as an instant relief from suffering. Immediately after a creature takes damage within 30 feet of you, you can use your reaction to cast the spell Healing Word at first level, without consuming a spell slot. If you are capable of casting the spell at 2nd level, you may consume 2 points of your Lay on Hands pool to increase the level of the spell from 1st to 2nd. If you are capable of casting the spell at 3rd level, you may consume an additional 3 points from your Lay on Hands to increase the spell from 2nd to 3rd. (Note: This comes to a total of 5 points to cast the spell at 3rd level)

When you cast the spell in this manner, the spellcasting ability modifier is Wisdom.

Positive Affirmation: While out of combat, you can spend 1 minute to bolster and encourage an ally, sharing kind words and support. That ally's and your hit current and maximum hit points are increased by your paladin level + your Charisma modifier. This effect lasts until your next long rest, and does not stack.

Aura of Solidarity

Starting at 7th level, whenever you or an allied creature within 10 feet of you casts a spell that restores hit points, you can use your reaction to restore hit points to any creature other than yourself within that area. The healing is equal to your charisma modifier.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Bountiful Spirit

Starting at 15th level, your stalwart soul provides greater strength to you healing power. Your Lay on Hands pool is increased by an amount equal to your Wisdom Modifier x your Paladin level. Additionally, whenever you gain a level in this class, your Lay on Hands pool is increased by an additional amount equal to your Wisdom Modifier.

Ultimate Sacrifice

At 20th level, you have learned how to give all that you are and all that you have for the sake of those around you.

As an action, you may spend any number of points from your Lay on Hands feature, and deal yourself radiant damage equal to the amount spent. This ability ignores all resistance and immunity to radiant damage. When you take damage this way, each other creature of your choice within 30 feet of you regains health equal to half the amount of damage taken.

You may use this feature 3 times. All uses of this feature are restored after a long rest.
