Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

A Dark Blade fighter can harness the shadows for both attack and defensive purposes, such as covering their blade in darkness or using the shadow in order to check their surroundings and even being able to boost defense for a short time. These fighters tend to rely heavily on their mastery of the sword as using such magic is draining. By combining both a perfect sword technique and their control over this mysterious element to become a true warrior.

In this build, I created a new damage type called Dark damage, this type of damage lowers the AC of the creature hit by 1 for the rest of your turn (using it twice does not increase the amount lowered. As it's only used in this homebrew there will not be any creature with resistance to it but that is the nature of this damage type, but in the same way, no enemies are weak to this type of damage. If you don't want Dark damage in your campaign as a DM it can easily be substituted for Necrotic instead.

Dark Magic

Using your strange connection to darkness and after years of training, you are now able to call upon the connections with the dark to strengthen an attack or take multiple blows.

Dark Magic Dice: At 3rd level, you gain 6 Dark Magic dice which are d6s. You can spend these to use Dark magic abilities, You regain all of your expended Dark Magic dice when you finish a long or short rest. You gain another two Dark Magic die at 7th level and two more at 15th level. Multiple dice can be used to enhance your attack

Dark Cloaked Slash: When using this your blade is clocked in a veil of darkness. As part of an attack, you can expend one or more Dark Magic dies to enhance the damage your weapon deals, this damage is equal to the rolled amount and also increase the range of the attack by 10ft, this additional damage is Dark damage.

Black Hole: A sphere of darkness forms in front of you pulling and absorbing certain magical attacks. As a reaction you can spend any number of Dark magic dies to reduce the incoming damage of a spell attack, the amount reduced is equal to the number rolled. This ability has no effect on spells causing radiant, force, thunder or psychic damage.

Dark Shroud: You cloak yourself in your own dark magic in order to reduce the effect of damage. You can spend any number of Dark magic dies to gain resistant to all types of damage, except radiant, force, thunder or psychic damage, for a number of turns equal to the rolled number halved (rounded up)

Blackout Training

During your time training, a lot of it was spent in training with little sight in order to strengthen your reflexes and ability to see in the darkness, days at a time you spent lost in a dark room until the darkness felt like home.

At level 3rd level, while you are wearing no armor and not wielding a shield, your AC equals 10 + your Strength modifier + your Wisdom modifier.

You also gain Darkvision up to 60ft if you don't already have it. If you already have Darkvision extend it by 30ft

Dark Cloaked Slash: Equinox

After being in countless battles you have learned more powerful ways to use your dark magic, although this is extremely taxing on the body. Through immense concentration, you are able to release all of your dark magic in a single attack which can cut through even the planes itself, but not without compromise.

At 15th level, you gain this ability. In order to use this, you must take action to concentrate on this attack, giving advantage and it uses all of your Dark Magic dice in one attack, The attack travels in a straight line for 30ft before dissipating and can affect creatures in other planes if you focus on them and are within 30ft. Damage is equal to the number rolled on your Dark magic dice plus half, but due to immense strain on your body after this attack, you take 1 point of exhaustion.
