Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Some rangers have sworn to remove demons from the face of the world, and have made deals with angels or- in some cases- demons to help them do so. Their tenacity in combat with the effective use of finesse and magic makes them very deadly. Those who choose this path tend to crave battle and power, and at times, are often known to enter a trance where they kill their targets with no remorse. By choosing to become a demon hunter, these individuals have chosen a life of killing. They know their job doesn't stop with the death of one demon, it only ends with either the extermination of all demons or their own death.

NOTE: This conclave works best when paired with the Unearthed Arcana Ranger. While it is still technically compatible with the original PHB ranger, Trick Shot is a key feature, and is not available to that ranger due to overlap with Extra Attack.

Extra Favored Enemy

If fiends are not already your favored enemy when you take this conclave, you gain them in addition to your original favored enemy, along with all the benefits.

Vault

Starting at 3rd level, you can take a Dash, Disengage, or Hide action as a bonus action.

Trick Shot (For Unearthed Arcana Ranger)

Starting at 5th level, when you attack, you can use one of the following modifiers to your attacks:

Hungering Arrow. Your arrows ricochet off of walls, and in a magic world, home in on your enemies. You can guarantee a hit with this attack, but it deals half damage if it wouldn’t have hit on its own. If you roll a critical hit with this arrow, it seeks out an additional enemy within 15 feet of the original target- attacking the original target again if there is no other enemy nearby- dealing half the damage of the initial attack.

Multishot. You shoot multiple arrows at once. Enemies within a 15-foot cone must make a Dexterity saving throw or take your normal weapon damage as if you had shot one arrow. If tracking ammunition, this ability uses 5 arrows.

Cluster Arrow. You shoot an arrow with a grenade-enabled arrowhead. On a hit, your target takes double damage from the attack, and all creatures within 5 feet of the target take damage equal to your Dexterity modifier if the original attack would have hit them.

Entangling Shot. You shoot a net or set of bolas that restrains your target. When you hit with an attack, your target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be restrained for one round.

These abilities can be used in conjunction with maneuvers if using the QuixoticDragon Homebrew Nonmagic Variant.

Shadow Power

Starting at 7th level, you can siphon health from your enemies for a short time. As a bonus action, you can activate this ability for a number of rounds equal to your Wisdom modifier. During this time, when you hit a target with a weapon attack you deal extra necrotic damage equal to your Wisdom modifier, and gain half the amount of damage done this way as healing. This ability can be used once per short or long rest.

Rapid Fire

Starting at 11th level, you can fire arrows as fast as you can nock them, almost as if they are flying to load themselves. Make a ranged attack against a creature. On a hit, the target takes 3d4 piercing damage, and on each of your turns for up to a minute (or until you lose concentration), you can use your bonus action to deal 3d4 piercing damage to the target automatically. The ability ends if you use your bonus action to do anything else. The ability also ends if the target is ever more than 30 feet away from you or if it has total cover from you. If your target dies before the duration is up, you can transfer the remaining shots to another creature by making another attack roll.

Vengeance

Starting at 15th level, you can become the physical embodiment of vengeance. You can trigger this transformation as a bonus action, and it lasts for one minute. You gain the following benefits for the duration:

  • Your critical hit range becomes 18-20.
  • You can shoot one Hungering Arrow per round as a bonus action.
  • Once you use this ability, you can’t use it again until you complete a long rest.
