Base Class: Barbarian
The Path of the Pugilist is the demonstration of honor and strength through pure athletic ability. By emphasizing focused and brutal attacks, a Pugilist can beat down a foe with his bare hands, restrain foes to a point of forfeit, and brutally break their targets physically with practiced brutal technique.
Focused Rage
Starting at 3rd level when you rage you can choose to enter a Focused Rage. If you do so, pick a target you can see. For the duration of your rage you gain the following benefits when attacking the your focused target:
- Your unarmed attacks can critically hit on a 19 as well as a 20
- When you hit with an attack of opportunity the target can only move up to 15 feet away from you.
- If you bring the target to 0 hit points, any excess damage dealt you gain as temporary hit points.
Your Focused Rage ends if the target falls to 0 hit points or after 1 minute.
Heavy Handed
Additionally at 3rd level and as you gain levels in this class, your unarmed attacks use a 1d4 + Strength + Half your Proficiency as its damage. This increases to a 1d6 at 5th level, 1d8 at 11th, and 1d10 at 17th level.
Subjugator
Beginning at 6th level, while raging you count as one size larger when attempting a grapple. In addition, any creature you grapple has disadvantage to break out as long as you attacked it this turn.
Brutal Slam
Starting at 14th level, while you have a creature grappled, you can attempt to execute a brutal attack. You leap up to your strength modifier as feet into the air, slamming the creature back into the ground, dealing (Your STR modifier)d10 damage and knocking you and the target prone. This damage is doubled versus your focused rage target.
Into the Fray
At 10th level, you can use your reaction after you take damage to either enter your rage or move up to half your movement towards a ranged attacker.

Some notes on where I'm getting these traits from:
Focused Rage:
- Improved critical from champion fighter 3, but only during focused rage and only against a single target while fighting unarmed. (Still maybe too much with added melee damage too)
- Worse Warlock(3) Claw of Acamar / partial & weaker Sentinel Feat
- Worse Fiend Lock(1), only applies to the damage you deal and only if you fell your focused target. Act as a buffer for losing your rage as you down your foe, but that could make sense to remove as you should have a weakness for using this trait & dropping the rage.
Heavy Handed
- Based on monk martial arts table, but adding half of your proficiency on top of it to make up for the fewer attacks, while still averaging a lower average
Subjugator
- A means to have some more control to the class, the downside of this is that you must have attacked the target for the disadvantage to come into effect, limiting the number of targets you can grapple to 1
Into The Fray
- The reaction to rage seemed strong, so I wanted to ensure it was after you took the full damage of the attack. The movement is intended as a means to gap close only after taking damage from a ranged target, and only an average of 15feet towards a target. This is still arguably more powerful than other barbarian level 10's so very open to adjustments.
Brutal Slam
- I don't think I wrote this out as cleanly as it could have been, the clarified idea if unclear is: If you have a +4 STR modifier, you leap with your grappled target 4 feet into the air, and slam down with 4d10 bludgeoning damage, doubled damage vs focused rage target. Damage is generally lower than other level 14 traits, at a +5Modifier and only against your focused target it can be equal damage die to Fiend Warlock's Hurl Through Hell (14th level), while this deals bludgeoning damage versus warlock's psychic damage. And it breaks the grapple and knocks you and the target prone.
