Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Barbarians that have found themselves to have been cursed by this ancient curse always seem to be the center of attention on a battlefield, almost as if the spirits are forcing enemies to attack them. Some of these Barbarians find themselves unable to deal with these specters but some Barbarians learn to be less violent, appeasing these spirits and using them to their own gain.

Curse of the Martyr

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, spirits appear when you rage and begin to control your enemies forcing them to attack you or face the consequences. Until the start of your next turn, that target has disadvantage on any attack roll that isn’t against you, and when the target hits a creature other than you with an attack, that creature has resistance to the damage dealt by the attack. The effect on the target ends early if your rage ends.

Pain of the Haunted One

If the spirits haunting you see that you have become too violent, whether they is because of the murdering of an innocent, see you get too violent they will strike out against you. You will be forced to make a Constitution Saving throw of 8 + Your Wisdom Modifier + your Constitution Modifier or be subjected to 1d4 Psychic Damage at the end of your turn. The damage die goes up 1 die until you succeed the saving throw at the end of each of your turns but the max damage die caps out at 1d12 per turn.

Spirit Shield

Beginning at 6th level, the spirits that haunt you can provide supernatural protection to those you defend. If you are raging and another creature you can see within 30 feet of you takes damage, you can use your reaction to reduce that damage by 2d6.

When you reach certain levels in this class, you can reduce the damage by more: by 3d6 at 10th level and by 4d6 at 14th level.

The Curse of the Accursed

At 10th level, you have appeased the spirits haunting you enough to curse an enemy with the same curse afflicting you. Once per short rest choose an enemy that you can see within 30 feet of you and curse them using a bonus action. This curse lasts for 1 minute and ends early if you die or are incapacitated. Until the curse ends you gain the following benefits:

  • You can crit against those enemy on a dice roll of a 19 or a 20.
  • If you kill the enemy you regain health equal to your level + your Constitution modifier.
  • The enemy must make a Constitution saving throw at the end of their next turn, on a failure they suffer the effects of The Pain of the Haunted One and will suffer the effects until they succeed the saving throw or the curse ends.

Vengeful Spirits

At 14th level, your haunting spirits grow powerful enough to retaliate. When you use your Spirit Shield to reduce the damage of an attack, the attacker takes an amount of force damage equal to the damage that your Spirit Shield prevents.
