Base Class: Monk
Prerequisite: Sorcerer, Level 2, Bronze Dragon Ancestor
A monk with the sorcerer's background of Dragon Ancestry can chose Way of the Bronze Dragon as an extension of that background and it innate powers that are provided through the dragon bloodline. While a monk of this kind is rare, it can provide a unique look into the often untapped potential of bloodlines. When you focus your ki, you can align yourself with the elemental forces of your Bronze dragon ancestry and bend the elements of the air to your will and use them as an extension of your body. Monks of this tradition often develop patches of skin at the joints, eyes, and feet that are similar to that of dragon skin.
At 3rd level, You know the Draconic Will discipline which is detailed below. You learn one additional elemental discipline of your choice at 6th, 11th, and 17th level.
Draconic Will
At 3rd level, you are able to conjure aspects of the dragon when using your ki. You gain the following benefits when you expend 2 ki points instead of 1:
- When you use Flurry of Blows, you can cause electrical damage instead of bludgeoning and on a successful strike, the target cannot use its reaction until the end of your next turn. At 6th level, you gain 1d8 electrical damage for every extra ki point spent.
- When you use Patient Defense, you become resistant to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing from nonmagical and lightning attacks until the beginning of your next turn.
- When you use Step of the Wind, you gain a flying speed or swim speed equal to your walking speed until the beginning of your next turn. At 6th level, you can spend and extra ki point and gain double the movement speed.
- Eyes of the Dragon: You can spend 2 ki points to cast the following spells without material components: darkvision and frightful presence. You also know the gust cantrip.
Frightful Presence
By spending 2 ki points, one creature of your choice that is within sight and aware of you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become Frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Dragon Scales
At 6th level, your skin hardens and begins to reflect the scales of a dragon. Your AC increases by 1. It increases by 1 again at 11th level and again at 17th level. Additionally, you gain resistance to lightning. At 17th level, the resistance becomes immunity.
Draconic Intimidation
Starting at 11th level, you can cause the enemies around you to tremble in fear at your mere presence. You can use a bonus action and spend 3 ki points to choose up to six creatures that are within 60 feet of you that you can see. For each extra ki point you spend you can potentially affect another 2 creatures.
The target creatures must then make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature becomes frightened of you for 1 minute. You have advantage on weapon attacks against creatures frightened in this way. The frightened creature may repeat the saving throw at the end of each of their turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Ancient Resistance
At 17th level, whenever you fail a saving throw, you can expend 6 ki points to automatically succeed. If you were to take half damage on a success, you instead take no damage.
