Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Viper’s Fang are masters of swift attacks, moving with unparalleled speed and using their Ki to dash throughout the battlefield in surges of energy. What these deadly monks are most known for however, are their dreaded venom blades, shimmering daggers of force which can be thrown with pinpoint accuracy, then recalled their hand in a heartbeat. Much is unknown about the ways of these monks, except that they wander the realms alone, often fighting for their living and earning their wages as bounty hunters, mercenaries and assassins.
Venom Blades
Starting when you choose this feature at 3rd level, you become attuned to the swift agility and deadly strikes of the serpent. As a bonus action on your turn, you may manifest two venom blades (curved spectral daggers) into your hand. While wielding 1 or more venom blades, you gain the following benefits:
- After making a ranged attack with a venom blade, it immediately returns to your hand.
- You may perform Flurry of Blows with the venom blades. Additionally, you may perform Flurry of Blows by using the venom blades as ranged weapons.
- You may spend 2 ki points to cast Zephyr Strike (You may only perform the spell with a venom blade attack).
Serpent's Strike
Beginning at 6th level, you gain the ability to strike with inhuman speed, channeling your Ki into a thrown venom blade, then dashing to its location in a blink of an eye. As an action on your turn you may spend 3 Ki points to attempt a Viper strike. Make a ranged attack with a thrown venom blade. On a hit, the target takes damage from the attack as normal and becomes Marked for Death until the end of your next turn. A creature cannot be Marked for Death more than once at a time. At any point during your turn, you may use a bonus action to re-trigger the Serpent's Strike, allowing you to immediately dash to the location of each creature that has been Marked for Death in a surge of energy. Each creature must make a dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC. On a failed save, a creature takes damage equal to 3 × your Monk level. Once you have made an attack against all creatures that have been Marked for Death, you may end your action within 5 feet of one of the targets. The duration that Marked for Death remains on a target is doubled once you reach 11th level and tripled once you reach 17th level.
Barrage of Blades
At 11th level, As an action on your turn, you may spend 2 Ki points to summon a multitude of daggers that burst from your outstretched arms. Each creature in a 30 foot cone must make a dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC. On a failed save a creature takes 4d8 force damage or half as much on a successful one. Additionally, your venom blades now deal purely force damage.
Spectral Slash
Starting at 17th level, you have mastered the art of the venom blades which you wield, becoming one with the very essence of their speed and precision. You may spend 6 Ki points to cast Steel Wind Strike. Additionally, all creatures that you hit with the spell become Marked for Death.
