Base Class: Sorcerer
Your power draws from the immortal flame that fuels the legendary phoenix.You or your ancestors perhaps rendered a phoenix a great service, or you were born in its presence.Whatever the cause, a shard of the phoenix’s power dwells within you.
That power is a mixed blessing. Like the mythical creature, you can invoke fiery energy and gain the ability to cheat death itself. This power comes at a cost. The fire within you seethes,demanding to be unleashed. You sometimes find yourself absentmindedly feeding fires. You can’t bear to allow a fire to sputter out. You feel most comfortable while holding a lit torch or sitting in front of a campfire.
Phoenix sorcerers can use their powers to pull themselves back from the brink of death, and all too often their own, rash nature or reliance on destructive magic is what puts them there in the first place.
Such sorcerers are wanderers by necessity. The volatile nature of their magic makes other folk nervous. If a fire breaks out in town, a phoenix sorcerer had best flee, whether guilty or not. Fire is a dangerous force, and phoenix sorcerers have a reputation (deserved or not) for reckless behavior, confident that the essence of the phoenix can save them.
Fire Starter
You gain the ability to start fires with a touch. As a bonus action, you can magically ignite a a flammable object you touch with your hand—an object such as a torch, a piece of tinder, or the hem of drapes.
Hearth of Fire
The fire within you burns stronger and fiercer, strengthening your connection to all fire spells in ways others only dream.
You may chose a spell from any spell list as long as that spell deals fire damage and you have a spell slot of that level.
When you roll fire damage, it gains bonus fire damage equal to your Charisma modifier, this bonus can only be applied to a single die roll until the start of your next turn.
Mantle of Flame
You can unleash the phoenix fire that blazes within you. As a bonus action, you magically wreathe yourself in swirling fire, as your eyes glow like hot coals. For a number of rounds equal to your sorcerer level plus your charisma modifier, you gain the following benefits:
- You shed bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet.
- Any creature or object not carried by a creature takes fire damage equal to your Charisma modifier if: It causes damage to you from within 5 feet from you (even if the damage is fully mitigated) and/or touches you and/or ends its turn within 5 feet of you, additionally any flammable materials within 5 feet of you that takes damage from this ability are now on fire.
This ability can be used once per short or long rest.
Phoenix Spark
The fiery energy within you grows restless and vengeful. In the face of defeat, it surges outward to preserve you in a fiery roar.
- You gain resistance to fire damage.
- When you are reduced to less than 1 hit point and/or is considered dead, instead your hit points reset to your sorcerer level plus your charisma modifier, if this ability is triggered by negative levels your level is temporally set to 1 and/or if this ability is triggered by negative attributes the attribute that triggered this ability is temporarily set to 3, you are cured of any poison, diseases, enchantments and mind affecting abilities afflicting you, any creature or object not carried by a creature within 10ft of you takes fire damage equal to ((half your sorcerer level) + (your Charisma modifier)) with a dexterity save for half damage (use your spell DC) any flammable object not carried by a creature that took damage from this ability become inflamed, this ability will always activate when the conditions are met and cannot be suppressed.
This ability can only be triggered once, and it recharges after you finish a long rest.
If your Phoenix Spark ability is triggered while in the Form of Phoenix, that feature description is overridden by:
- When you are reduced to less than 1 hit point and/or is considered dead, instead your hit points reset to your sorcerer level plus your charisma modifier, if this ability is triggered by negative levels your level is temporally set to half your total levels (rounded down) and/or if this ability is triggered by negative attributes the attribute that triggered this ability is temporarily set to 8, you are cured of any poison, diseases, enchantments and mind affecting abilities afflicting you, you cause damage equal to ((your sorcerer level) + (your charisma modifier multiplied by two)) in a 15ft area around you, dexterity save for half damage, use your spell DC, creatures and objects not carried by a creature that fail the save are also pushed back 15ft and knocked prone, objects not carried by a creature that are medium size or smaller automatically fail the save, any flammable objects not carried by a creature that took damage from this ability become inflamed, this ability will always activate when the conditions are met and cannot be suppressed.
Nourishing Fire
Your fire spells soothe and restore you. When you expend a spell slot to cast a spell that includes a fire damage roll, you regain hit points equal to the slot’s level + your Charisma modifier.
Form of the Phoenix
You finally master the spark of fire that dances within you. Your Mantle of Flame feature becomes the Form of the Phoenix , As a bonus action, you burst fire wings and become fire incarnate, the ability no longer has a limit of uses or duration, you must spend a bonus action to deactivate the ability also when you are reduced to less than 1 hit point and/or is considered dead and have already triggered Phoenix Spark, Form of the Phoenix deactivates.
- You shed bright light in a 60ft radius and dim light for an additional 60ft.
- You have a flying speed of 40ft and can hover.
- Any creature or object not carried by a creature takes fire damage equal to your Charisma modifier if: It causes damage to you from within 5ft from you (even if the damage is fully mitigated) and/or touches you and/or ends its turn within 5ft of you, additionally any flammable materials within 5ft of you that takes damage from this ability are now on fire.
- You have resistance to all non magical damage and immunity to fire damage.
If your Phoenix Spark ability is triggered while in the Form of Phoenix, that feature description is overridden by:
- When you are reduced to less than 1 hit point and/or is considered dead, instead your hit points reset to your sorcerer level plus your charisma modifier, if this ability is triggered by negative levels your level is temporally set to half your total levels (rounded down) and/or if this ability is triggered by negative attributes the attribute that triggered this ability is temporarily set to 8, you are cured of any poison, diseases, enchantments and mind affecting abilities afflicting you, you cause damage equal to ((your sorcerer level) + (your charisma modifier multiplied by two)) in a 15ft area around you, dexterity save for half damage, use your spell DC, creatures and objects not carried by a creature that fail the save are also pushed back 15ft and knocked prone, objects not carried by a creature that are medium size or smaller automatically fail the save, any flammable object not carried by a creature that took damage from this ability become inflamed, this ability will always activate when the conditions are met and cannot be suppressed.
