Wizards of the School of Aegis are ones who have sworn to guard not only the secrets within the arcane academies, but they take upon themselves to protect their fellow wizards. Commonly found guarding the doors of their academies, this wizards specialize on close quarters combat, charging into battle with a weapon, a shield and their arcane knowledge.

Trained to Protect

Starting at 2nd level, you gain proficiency with light armor, shields and one type of one-handed melee weapon of your choice. Additionally, your chosen weapon becomes your spellcasting focus.

Your training has ingrated in you the necessity to act before any enemy, fulfilling your duty to protect your fellow wizards. You can give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Intelligence modifier.

Arcane Strike

Starting at 2nd level, you learn ancient techniques that allow you to decimate an enemy with powerful arcane attacks that channel the rituals for casting spells. When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you may decide to expend a spell slot to increase the damage of the attack. This damage is equal to 2d4 plus 1d4 per level of the spell slot expended, and you can choose what damage type this attack deals from cold, fire and lightining. This attack is magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances.When you reach 11th level, you can choose the type of damage from acid and necrotic.

Extra Attack

Starting at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

Savant Shield

Beginning at 10th level, you can channel your magical abilities to protect others around you. When an ally within 10 ft. of you is the target of an attack, you can use your reaction to cast shield on them, without expending a spell slot. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Magical Protector

At 14th level, you become powerful enough to face even the most powerful of wizards, prepared to go into combat to destroy even those who you would have called brothers in another life. You gain resistance to force and as an action you can temporarily give up one resistance and transfer it to one creature you touch. The creature keeps the resistance for 10 minutes or until you transfer it back to yourself as a bonus action. You can use this feature once per long rest.
