Base Class: Rogue
You've mastered the art of fishing on a mental and spiritual level, allowing you to utilize your fishing rod as though it were an extension of your immortal soul, a line that can be threaded through both space and time, the universe opening before you to welcome you with open arms. Fishing is like stealing but with more precision in method and less precision with intention, and is usually done with a fishing rod or net. It's also usually done to catch fish, but the Dimensional Fisher has learned that a fish is nothing more than a concept, so really anything is a fish if you really think about it. And you know what? Things like location on a physical plane or temporal moment are also concepts, so a Dimensional Fisher ignores those things to. All that matters to them is catching what they need.
Pocket Fishin'
Starting at 3rd level, you can attempt to make a Slight of Hand check to pickpocket a creature who is currently within five miles from where you stand by sending a fishing line and tackle through a dimensional rift leading into the creature's pocket. On a successful check, contested by a Perception check of the target, the item you retrieve through this method is determined randomly or by the DM. The target creature must have pockets. This can be done a number of times per day equal to your Wisdom modifier, minimum of once a day.
Pandimensional Pondspace
Starting at 3rd level, you have gained access to the Pandimensional Pondspace, a small pocket dimension of water teeming with fish. A number of times daily equal to your Wisdom modifier plus your Dexterity modifier, a minimum of twice, you may make a check to use a fishing tackle in the Pondspace with a DC of 10. On a success, you may roll on the following table.
- Fish that Explodes - Each creature within 5 feet of the fish must succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw or take 3d6 fire damage.
- Rude Angler Fish - Will insult anyone within 5 feet of it at random. This has the same effect as the fish casting the cantrip Vicious Mockery at first level with a spell save DC of 14.
- Puffer Fish - Consuming the puffer fish deals 1d4 poison damage.
- Old Boot - Isn't a fish, doesn't count.
- Old Sandal - This also isn't a fish, what's it doing in the Pondspace?
- Sardine - Consuming the sardine heals 1 hit point. Up to 50 sardines can be eaten at once as a single action.
- Two Sardines - It's two sardines.
- Three Sardines - :^] Yep.
- Four Sardines - Uh huh. :^] It's four of them.
- Five Sardines - Mmmm, sardines, yummy...
- Spicy Tilapia - Consuming the spicy tilapia allows you to spit a single, tiny fireball at a target up to 30 feet away. The attack's modifier is the same as if using a simple ranged weapon, and a hit deals 2d6 fire damage.
- Cold Tilapia - Consuming the cold tilapia allows you to spit a single, powerful snowball at a target up to 30 feet away. The attack's modifier is the same as if using a simple ranged weapon, and a hit deals 2d6 cold damage.
- Pure Tilapia - Consuming the pure tilapia allows you to spit a single ball of pure arcane power at a target up to 30 feet away. The attack's modifier is the same as if using a simple ranged weapon, and a hit deals 2d6 force damage.
- Goldfish - Rare fish that has a fixed market value of 1 gold piece.
- Golderfish - Rarer fish that has a fixed market value of 5 gold pieces.
- Lost Rat - He is lost, wet, and so, so confused. He may attack at random.
- Helmet Crab - Can be used as a shield, increasing AC by 2. However, once it is attacked three times it will return to Pondspace, very annoyed.
- Songfish - All creatures within 50 feet must make a DC 12 Wisdom save or become charmed by the Dimensional Fisher for 1 minute, due to the songfish's beautiful singing voice.
- Screamfish - All creatures within 50 feet must make a DC 12 Wisdom save or become frightened by the Dimensional Fisher for 6 seconds, due to the screamfish's awful, terrible scream.
- Can of Sardines - The can of sardines contains 2d10 sardines.
Additionally, new fish can be introduced to the Pondspace if caught by the Dimensional Fisher. Doing so adds the fish and their effects to the table, and can possibly allow for the introduction of crossbred species, which would also be added to the table. However, as more fish are added, the population of fish that explode and rude angler fish both increase at a rate equal to the number of total new species introduced divided by five.
Successive Temporal Fishin'
By 9th level, you've separated time from all equations regarding you and your prey. When attempting to make an attack with a simple or martial weapon, you may choose to use this feature to grant yourself advantage on the roll and dealing damage equivalent to two attacks from the same weapon. This is done by temporarily borrowing a swing of your weapon from a version of yourself in the future, allowing you to do two attacks simultaneously. The downside to this is that every time you attempt to make an attack with that weapon in the future, you must roll a d20 temporal check with a DC of 6. A failed temporal check means your attempt is temporarily teleported to the past, causing the attack against the current target to fail. This check must only be done until all previous uses of this feature have been accounted for. If you fail a temporal check during an attack in which you use this feature, you lose advantage on the roll and treat it as a regular attack with the weapon.
Additionally, this feature can be used for checks using a fishing tackle, giving you advantage while risking the temporary disappearance of your fishing tackle during future uses.
This feature can be used a number of times per day equal to your Wisdom modifier.
Ichthyological Damage Conceptualiza(Redirec)tion
Starting at 13th level, you've come to understand the subjectivity of all fish to a degree that allows you to convert the very concept of damage into fish, allowing for easy storage. If an enemy attempts to attack you but fails, you may use this feature to turn the concept of that concept into a fish and stow it in your Pandimensional Creel, a conceptual basket that holds conceptual fish. The fish exists for one day. You may attempt to throw a fish in your Pandimensional Creel at an enemy as though it were a simple ranged weapon, and on a hit it deals the amount of damage the attack you had originally missed would have done. On a miss, the fish dissipates, the illusion of conceptual matter broken. This can be done a number of times a day equal to your Wisdom modifier.
Excessive Cross-Temporal Fishin'
When you reach 17th level, things get complicated. You've learned that all actions are ripples in the great branching river of the multiverse, and can now cast a line into nearby streams. You may specify a previous roll you made within the past day for an attack or skill check, and roll for it again. From the result of that roll, the DM must specify any differences between the inventory of an alternate version of yourself that would have made that roll if time had progressed at the same length for them as it had for you. You and that alternate version of yourself then swap inventories. This feature can be used once a day.
