Base Class: Monk
Whilst most monks undertake physical training and mastery of the body, monks of the Way of the Sage pursue knowledge and wisdom as the ultimate means of attaining enlightenment. These monks believe a learned mind to be a healthy one, necessary for a balancing of the spirit and body, and so often are revered in holy communities for their wealth of wisdom. Some devotees of this path become known as sages and 'prophets', sought for their insight and advice, though just as many become hermits, isolating themselves from all contact for years to understand the mysteries of the universe.
This leads many monks of the Way of the Sage to become the spiritual leaders, librarians and archivists of their monasteries, serving to educate new pupils of more than just physical mastery.
Harmonic Epiphany
Starting at 3rd level, you begin to understand that sometimes knowledge, truth and honesty are the best ways to resolve conflict.
You gain proficiency in Insight, Religion or History (your choice). In addition, you can use your Wisdom Modifier in place of your Intelligence and Charisma modifiers when you make an Intelligence or Charisma saving throw or ability check.
Scholar's Memory
You gain proficiency in History.
Seer's Intuition
You gain proficiency in Insight.
Theologian's Understanding
You gain proficiency in Religion.
Unburdened Focus
At 6th level, your mental acuity allows you to channel your Ki towards tasks that you put your mind to. When you make an ability check, you can expend 1 Ki to gain advantage on that check. You can use your Ki this way a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier per long rest.
Commune with Ki
At 11th level, you learn the spells Augury, Divination and Commune, each of which you can cast only as a ritual by expending a single Ki point for each casting, once per long rest. The spells work as normal, but the answers come not from a higher power or deity, but from your own connection with the Ki of the Universe. Wisdom is your spellcasting modifier for these spells.
Sage Advice
At 17th level, your advice is so saught after that creatures you commune with are inspired by your wisdom. As part of a long or short rest, you can expend a number of Ki points up to your Wisdom modifier to grant the same number of creatures of your choice Inspiration. These creatures must have been in contact with you over the course of the past day, with advice you have given sometimes taking creatures time to truly understand. This Inspiration lasts until the end of your next long rest, or until you use this feature again.
