Base Class: Barbarian
A natural part of life, pain is something that everyone experiences at some time in their life. Some people though, embrace the pain, deciding to use it to fuel their rage in battle, empowering their attacks. Some would call them masochists, some call them maniacs, but Barbarians who follow the Path of Scars have method to their madness.
Anger powering their brutal combat style and already in the middle of the fray, a barbarian is likely to take a beating. Some barbarians choose to draw this pain in, using it to aid them in combat, using it to strengthen their attacks, enhance their speed, and draw life from their opponents.
Strength in Pain
Starting at 3rd level when you take this path, you are able to draw out power from your pain. While raging, if you take damage from a hostile creature on a turn other than your own at least once before your next turn, you gain +1 to hit on attacks for the duration of your rage. You can gain an additional +1 every turn. In addition, for every second bonus (+2, +4, etc), you also gain +1 to damage. This effect stacks to a maximum of +6 to hit (+3 damage). At level 10, the maximum is raised to +8 to hit (+4 damage) and at level 14, it is further raised to +10 to hit (+5 damage).
Maximum Output
Starting at the 6th level, when raging and under half your maximum HP, you gain an additional attack when you take the attack action, akin to an extra attack feature.
Return the Favor
Starting at 10th level, when you are the target of a critical hit of a hostile creature, the effect of this feature becomes active. On your next turn, the first attack has an additional +5 to hit, and +5 to damage, ignoring the bonus from Strength in Pain feature. Additionally, this attack recovers you life equal to half the amount of total damage dealt.
Center of Attention
Starting at 14th level, while raging, you are the center of hostile creatures' attention. Any creature within 15 ft. of you, must make a DC 15 wisdom saving throw or be forced to make any and all attacks possible on their turn against you. In addition, if you take 100 or more damage before the end of your rage, your next attack gains the benefits of the Return the Favor feature.
