Base Class: Paladin
Flames purify, and Paladin's who seek the purification and destruction of evil entities and wrongdoers in the world recognize the sacred symbol that fire has always been, and the safety it has provided to the inhabitants of the Sword Coast. They pledge themselves to the warmth and power of flame and use it to purify their enemies.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Embers Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.
Oath of Conquest Spells
| Paladin Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3rd | burning hands, faerie fire |
| 5th | flame blade, scorching ray |
| 9th | fireball, daylight |
| 13th | wall of fire, fire shield |
| 17th | flame strike, hallow |
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.
Flaming Purification. As an action, you may use Channel Divinity to conjure a flaming pillar around an creature within 30 feet of you. They may make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, they take 1d6 fire damage for every paladin level you possess (If you use this Channel Divinity against an evil aligned creature, increase the die size to 1d8.) On a successful saving throw, they take half damage.
Radiant Hearth. When you take a short or long rest and have a use of Channel Divinity left, you and up to 3 others resting with you regain additional hitpoints equal to your Paladin level.
Aura of Embers
Starting at 7th level, you constantly emanate an aura of warmth. Any friendly creature within 15 feet of you is not effected by cold or extremely cold temperatures and also have resistance to fire damage.
If any hostile creature or person ends their turn within the aura they take fire damage equal to your Charisma Modifier.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Surtur's Flames
Starting at 15th level, your flames begin to rival those of the Fire Giant God, Surtur. Whenever you deal fire damage against an enemy with fire resistance, you may ignore it, and if they are immune to fire, they instead take half damage.
Avatar of Surtur
At 20th level, you gain the ability to fan the embers within your mortal soul, becoming something more, for a duration. As an action, you can magically become an avatar of fire, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:
- You are healed by fire damage, instead of hurt by it. Your Aura of Embers heals you an amount equal to the damage it would deal to a hostile creature, when it would do so.
- When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can make one additional attack as part of that action.
- All weapon attacks you make deal an additional 1d6 fire damage.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
