As a practitioner of this Monastic Tradition, you have learned to transform the ki inside your body into something you consider far deadlier: lightning. Way of the Storm monks are a tempest, fast and decisive on the battlefield, ruthless with the damage they inflict against foes.

Whirlwind

The ki that flows through your body has become electric. At 3r level, when you choose this Monastic Tradition, you gain the following enhancements to your Martial Arts.

• Electric Dash.  When you use Step of the Wind you are capable of moving through enemies' spaces, dealing lightning damage equal to your Martial Arts die to each enemy you move through in this way. You can only deal damage to each enemy in this way once per turn.
• Lightning Reflexes.  When you use Patient Defense, if an enemy within 5 feet of you makes an attack against you, you may use your reaction to make one Unarmed Strike against them.
• Rain of Lightning.  When you hit with an Unarmed Strike while using Flurry of Blows, you can choose to deal lightning or thunder damage instead of bludgeoning damage.

Speed of Lightning

At 3rd level, you sense the ki of creatures around you, allowing you to react exceptionally quick. You double your Dexterity modifier when making rolling initiative.

Additionally, you can’t be surprised while you are conscious.

Lightning Palm

At 6th level, you have become attuned to both thunder and lightning. When you use your Stunning Strike, you may expend 1 additional Ki point (2 total) to give the target disadvantage on the saving throw. Creatures that are immune to lightning are not affected.

You may expend 1 additional Ki point (3 total) to release a pulse of thunder originating from yourself. All creatures within 15 feet must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d8 thunder damage and is pushed 10 feet away from you. On a successful save, the creature takes half damage and isn't pushed. The target of Stunning Strike does not take this damage.

Thunderbolt

At 11th level, as an action, you can expend 4 Ki points to cast lightning bolt at 3rd level without providing material components.

Godspeed

At 17th level, your body is a battery and conduit for lightning. You feel it rushing through your veins at any given moment. You are capable of unleashing the full potential of your strength at a bonus action by expending 7 Ki points and undergoing a transformation as your body becomes shrouded with electricity:

• You gain the benefits of Step of the Wind and Electric Dash for the duration.
• When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can attack three times, instead of twice.
• You gain a flight speed equal to your walking speed.
• If an enemy starts their turn within 5 feet of you, they take damage equal to half your monk level rounded down.

This transformation lasts a minute. You regain the use of this ability after a long rest.
