Cleric
Base Class: Cleric

The Chaos domain focuses on the explosive spontaneous energy that suffuses the universe and comprises all of life apart from the constants, the rules, and the order. The gods of chaos promote originality and innovation through artistic creation, bending the rules of the universe, and altering the plans of mice, men, and other great beings. Almost any non-lawful deity can claim influence over this domain, but chaotic good, chaotic neutral, and chaotic evil gods make the strongest case.

Chaotic Allegiance

Starting at 1st level, when you or your DM make a roll to determine random odds for a game of chance or any other instance of purely random luck, make the roll with advantage.

Blessed by Chaos

As a variant option, when you begin this domain at 1st level, you are bestowed your own Chaotic Blessing from the Chaotic Blessing Table.

Rule Breaker

Also starting at 1st level, your spells spark extra magical energy. You may cast a spell with your bonus action even if you also use your action to also cast a spell.

Channel Divinity: Substitute Component

Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to loosen the component requirements for spells.

As an action or bonus action, whenever a spell consumes a material component worth a certain gold value, you may instead present any item worth an equivalent or greater gold value to substitute for that component.

Enhanced Disruption

Beginning at 6th level, whenever you cast Dispel Magic, Counterspell, or any spell to undo or overwrite another's magic, roll a d4. The spell costs the spell slot it was cast at, but has the effect as though it were cast at the original level plus the d4.

Channel Divinity: Chaotic Blessing

At 8th level, you gain the ability to help bestow creatures with a Chaotic Blessing. You may use your Channel Divinity feature to perform an hour long ritual on a non-hostile creature. Once blessed, you may not bless the same creature again and you are unable to undo a Chaotic Blessing.

Upon completion of the ritual, the DM rolls 1d100 on the Chaotic Blessing Table. Some Chaotic Blessings are not made immediately apparent.

For the purposes of being dispelled, a Chaotic Blessing counts as a 9th level curse spell, so long as the god whose divine power bestows the blessing remains alive and well.

Arcane Subversion

Starting at 17th level, disrupting other spellcasters sparks extra energy within you. Whenever you successfully use Counterspell or Dispel Magic, you may choose one of the following added effects:

  • You may restore any one expended spell slot up to equal value of the spell you just countered.
  • You may redirect the spell as though you were the original caster it.

Chaotic Blessing Table

Chaotic Blessing Table d100

  1. Chaotic Blessing of the Healing Pool. Roll 1d10 for every 10 hit points in your hit point maximum. Permanently reduce your hit point maximum by that amount. If you are a paladin, increase the pool of healing energy accessible by your Lay On Hands feature by that amount. If you are not a paladin, you gain the Lay On Hands feature except your pool of healing energy is the amount this blessing reduces your hit point maximum by and is not increased when you level up.
  2. Chaotic Blessing of the Reversed Magic. When you would normally deal magical damage, you instead heal the target by half the amount. When you would normally heal, you instead deal double the amount of necrotic damage to the target. For attacks that deal both magical and non-magical damage, only the magical damage is affected by the blessing.
  3. Chaotic Blessing of the Explosive Strike. When you make a melee attack that deals 10 or more damage, you and your target are knocked back 5 feet in opposite directions from each other. If an object or wall prevents you or your target from being knocked back the full 5 feet, the wall or object stops the movement and deals the equivalent of 10 feet of fall damage.
  4. Chaotic Blessing of the Selfless Rest. When you take a long or short rest, you can choose to heal another creature instead of yourself.
  5. Chaotic Blessing of the Inner Destruction. When you make an attack, as a bonus action you can boost the damage with your own life force. Before making the attack roll, you can expend 1 hit die to imbue the attack with extra power. If the attack hits, roll the hit die and add that amount of necrotic damage to the total damage. If you roll a natural 1 the hit die heals your intended target.
  6. Chaotic Blessing of the Scripts. All written languages appear to you as though they were written in common. Names, coded messages, text hidden or obscured by magic, and words without a definition in common remain lost to your comprehension. In addition, everything you write is written in a cipher, readable only after a creature (including you) passes a DC 20 Intelligence Check.
  7. Chaotic Blessing of the Bodily Fluids. Your saliva now deals 1d8 acid damage on contact and 2d8 if applied internally or to an open wound. Peeing on a creature or object causes your saliva to interact as normal saliva with that object or creature.

The next magical item you attune to gains sentience, 1d20 Intelligence Score, 1d20 Wisdom Score, 1d20 Charisma Score, and a voice that can be heard for up to 120 feet.
