Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards who have mastered their musical ability above all else typically belong to the College of Virtuosity. But this is no sign of lesser magical abilities; on the contrary, bards of this college have learned to twist spells to fit into their own songs, altering their magic to fit into even more occasions.

Bards of the College of Virtuosity may hold themselves to a higher standard of performance then their counterparts, as their musical ability can be considered of even greater importance to their magical prowess than bards of other colleges. As such, bards of this college are less likely to be found playing in taverns or other common places than performing for nobles or others of high social status. Of course, even the most privileged can feel the calling of adventure, as many Virtuoso Bards have.

Melodious Magic

Starting when you choose this college at 3rd level, you learn how to alter your spells through song or instrumental ability. Whenever you cast a spell, you may expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cast a variation of your spell. Choose from the list below. You may only use one variation per spell cast.

Extended Variation. If the spell has a duration of at least 1 minute, you can increase its duration (by the same unit of time) by an amount equal to the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die, to a maximum of 24 hours.

Intensified Variation. If the spell forces a creature to make a saving throw to resist its effects, you can give one target of the spell a penalty to its first save against the spell. The penalty equals the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die.

Subtle Variation. If the spell has no effect on a successful save, a creature that succeeds on its saving throw against the spell has no hint that a spell was cast on it.

Additional Magical Secret

At 6th level, you learn one spell of your choice from any class. The spell you choose must be of a level you can cast, as shown on the Bard table, or a cantrip. The chosen spell counts as a bard spell for you but doesn't count against the number of bard spells you know.

Songs For All Ears

Starting at 6th level, when you cast a spell that targets creatures, you can spend one use of Bardic Inspiration to cause it to target all types of creatures. If the spell is a healing spell, it can heal undead and constructs, with this casting.

Editor of Magic

Starting at 14th level, you have mastered the art of thoroughly altering your simpler spells. When you cast a Bard spell of 4th level or lower, you may alter this casting of it in one of the following ways:

Empowerment. If the spell does damage, you may do maximum damage with this casting of it, instead of rolling.

Extension. If the spell has a duration of at least 1 minute and requires concentration, it instead lasts until you lose your concentration. If the spell has a duration of at least 1 minute but does not require concentration, you increase its duration to 24 hours, though you may use an action to end it early.

Intensification. If the spell forces a creature to make a saving throw to resist its effects, all targeted creatures are treated as having rolled a 10 on the d20 for their first save.

Once you use this feature, you must complete a long rest to use it again.
