Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Serpent, when they hit maturity, are secluded alone in a dark room with the statue of the great Serpent. The statue emits semi-bright energy and non-lethal poisonous gas. The Monk in the room has to meditate from weeks to month and even several weeks to achive the meaning of what the serpent truly represents.

Thermal Sight

This sight can penetrate non-magical darkness. You can tell if the object or creature is hotter or colder than the environment. This vision can penetrate non-magical barriers that are 2 feet or less in thickness. This can also be used to see invisible creatures, if their temperature is different than the environment. This can also be used to tell the general temperature of an object, creature or environment. For example you can see that a desert is hot or a tundra is cold.

At 9th level you can identify creatures by their heat signature, if they have one. For this ability heat signatures operate similarly to fingerprints. Each organic creature, that is not cold blooded, has a unique heat signature. If you have encountered a creature with a heat signature before, you can identify that creature through its heat signature. This ability can be used to see through illusions or disguises which mask someone's identity.

Strikes of the Serpent

Venomous Strikes. When you hit a target with an unarmed Strike, you can expend one ki point, as a bonus action, to inflict poison damage on the target and attempt to poison them. The target must make a constitution saving throw, taking 3d6 poison damage and becoming poisoned for 1 minute on a failed save. On a successful save the target takes half damage and does not become poisoned.

The poison damage increases to 4d6 at 11th level and 5d6 at 17th level

Natural Camouflage. Learning from the Serpent, you managed to blend into your surroundings, as a bonus action, you can expend 1 ki point to gain advantage on a stealth check.

The True Serpent Within

Starting at 17th level, you can spend 6 ki points to temporarily transform into the Serpent itself for 10 minutes. Your body becomes covered in thick scales, you grow venomous fangs, and gain increased senses. While transformed, you gain the following benefits.

  • You gain a +2 to your AC
  • Your melle attacks gain reach of 10ft and critically hit on a die toll of 19 or 20.
  • Whenever you use your Flurry of Blows feature and hit with both attacks, you can make an additional bite attack as a part of the same action. You are considered proficient with this attack. On a hit, you deal 1d6 piercing damage plus 4d6 poison damage and the target must make a Constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 minute.
