Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Arcane Song are students of the very nature of Magic. Arcane Singers learn to use their music to disrupt spells and magical effects and even enhance the spells of their allies. Prized for their ability to weave their songs into the spells cast by others as well as their vast knowledge of all types of magic, these bards are often sought out as councilors and companions for other spellcasters and even as chaperones for less skilled adventurers.

On their own, Arcane Singers are widely regarded as highly prized assets for any adventuring group, particularly those with one or more other casters.  Groups of Arcane Singers, however, are rightly feared for their ability to combine their magics to potentially devastating effects.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Arcane Song at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armor, arcana, and religion.

Harmonic Arcanum

Also at 3rd level, you learn to inspire fellow casters to greater heights. A creature that has a Bardic Inspiration die from you can roll that die and add the number rolled to a spell damage roll, to a roll to determine a spell effect hit point pool (as with the sleep spell), or to the roll to determine hit points restored by a healing spell it just made. Alternatively, when a ranged spell attack roll is made against the creature, it can use its reaction to roll the Bardic Inspiration die and add the number rolled to its AC against that attack, after seeing the roll but before knowing whether it hits or misses.

Discordant Sundering

Starting at 6th level, you learn the spell counterspell. This spell counts as a bard spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of bard spells you know. In addition, you have advantage on any ability check you make when casting counterspell or dispel magic.

With your "ear" for magic, you also have advantage when making an Intelligence (arcana) check to identify any spell cast by any class or even a monster using its Innate Spellcasting trait.

At 14th level, you gain the ability to expend a Bardic Inspiration for an additional reaction casting of counterspell. You only may gain one additional reaction in this manner.

Choir of the Arcanum

At 14th level, you have mastered the art of interweaving your songs into the spellcasting of your allies. As a reaction, you may expend one of your own spell slots to raise the level of a spell cast by an ally by the level of the spell slot you expend. This ability can only affect spells that can benefit from being cast at a higher level, and no spell can have its level raised beyond ninth level. You only may use this ability once per round.

Most spellcasters only can benefit from one usage of Choir of the Arcanum at at time (i.e., can have only one Arcane Singer contribute a spell slot).  Members of the College of Arcane Song, on the other hand, are limited only by the maximum level at which a spell can be cast.  For example, an Arcane Singer could cast dissonant whispers at first level.  Up to eight other Arcane Singers could expend a first level spell slot to raise the spell's level to ninth, provided all the contributing casters are 14th level or higher.

You may still expend a Bardic Inspiration to gain an additional reaction to cast counterspell; however, you only may utilize Choir of the Arcanum and Discordant Sundering once each per round.
