Base Class: Monk
This subclass focuses on efficiency, they are not afraid to use dirty tricks or underhanded tactics to come out on top of a fight. Their one and only monetary is based on the 6th floor of the Star ship Droplet, it is built around a drop of coagulated dragons blood. The dragons blood is old and powerful and has been here since times past, the Dragon Blood Monks are dedicated to unraveling the mysteries of this powerful droplet, and perhaps the mysteries of the dragons themselves. They use their ki to get the upper hand at any cost, and are adept at using their surroundings to their advantage. Any blow that misses their body can be used to their advantage, and defenseless enemy are easy targets.
Dragon Blood Technique
You are trained to make any opponent you are facing as weak as possible and then to capitalize on said weakness, you use your ki to affect and manipulate another creatures. When you hit an opponent with Flurry of Blows you can impose one of the following effects on that target
- It must succeed a DEX save or be knocked prone
- It must make a STR save or be disarmed of its main weapon
- It can take reactions until the end of its next turn
You're keen eyes can see the weakest place on a defenseless creatures body, and using your ki you know how to inflict wounds that will last. You can use another ki point to gain an extra die of martial arts damage to any enemy that is disarmed or prone
Eyes for Opportunity
You've spent hours and hours training your senses, looking for opportunity to turn the tide of battle is your specialty. You know how to turn an enemy's own attack against them and leave them open for further punishment. When a creature misses an attack against you, you may use a ki point to either
- Attack the creature in retaliation
- use the missed attack to knock the enemy prone on a failed STR save
The order is taught to do anything to win, so for you hitting a downed enemy is best when they're on their way up, you've found that doing so gives you the best chance to make them stay down. When a prone creature attempts to stand up in you're melee range it provokes an opportunity attack from you and you can spend 2 ki points to attempt to keep it on the ground. The target creature must make a STR/DEX save, on a fail the creature is unable to stand up that turn
Shadowed Movement
Knowing that anytime your opponent is at a disadvantage you need to be pushing the advantage, you have learned how to fight without needing to see. Hours spent training in complete dark have paid off. Darkness no longer imposes disadvantage on your attacks, not even blindness/magical darkness. Most dragon blood monks adorn blindfolds at this level to signify them moving up in the order.
You have also learned how to use your ki to replicate the effects of the darkness spell. You can use 2 ki points to cast the darkness spell without components.
Paralyzing Strike
You know how much ki an untrained body can take, you also know where to hit a creature to blast it with too much ki than it can handle. On a successful melee attack you can use 6 ki points and your bonus action to try and paralyze the creature you hit. The creature must succeed on a constitution saving throw or be paralyzed until the end of your next turn.
Improved Critical
You've learned how to hit hard and fast, but most importantly you've learned how to find the softest and weakest part of an enemy that is at a disadvantage. When you attack a creature that is disarmed or prone your land a critical hit on a 19 or a 20.
