Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

Long after the blackness has faded from your vision, you feel an iciness in your veins that does not feel unfamiliar to the cold grip of Death itself. Now, when you call upon your magic you are greeted by that icy familiarity of Death and you feel yourself empowered and terrified by that sensation. You will grow to find comfort in this familiarity, but first you must come to terms with Death in the way it seems to have come to terms with you.

Revived Nature

At 1st level when you choose this origin your newfound connection to death gives you the following benefits:

  • You have advantage on saving throws against disease and being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison and necrotic damage.
  • Spells you do that deal necrotic damage gain an extra d6 of necrotic damage
  • You gain proficiency on Constitution saving throws
  • You learn the Toll the Dead and Chill Touch cantrips.

Ethereal Form

Starting at 6th level you gain the ability to briefly travel between the realms of the living and dead. As a bonus action, you can expend two sorcery points to become ethereal, gaining a 40 ft. hovering speed and an immunity to all non-magical physical damage.

While in this form it is as if the True Seeing and Speak with Dead spells are constantly active on you, giving you the ability to see and speak with the spirits of the recently departed as though they were still alive. You remain in this form for up to 1 minute or until you exit this form as a bonus action.

Feign Undeath

At 14th level, you gain the ability to pass as dead or undead. Those who seek to understand what you are will notice that your heart does not beat, you do not need to breathe, and your body does not grow.

As such, you become completely immune to necrotic and poison damage. You also gain the spell Feign Death the spell counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but does not count against the spells you know. You may cast Feign Death on yourself.

Should you choose to play dead, only the most keen of eyes will notice that you are not in fact a corpse. Additionally, if you choose to pose as an undead all those who do not know your true nature within 30 feet of you must past a DC 10 Wisdom Saving Throw or be frightened.

Lichdom

At 18th level you become one with the undying magic of Death itself and become a Lich. Should you drop below 0 hit points, you are knocked unconscious and your magic manifests as a Lich which is under your control as though it were your original player character. Only after the death of the Lich do you start making death saving throws. After combat ends the Lich returns to your unconscious body and restores you to half health.
