Base Class: Paladin
The Oath of Judgement pays homage to the efficacy of lightning
TENETS OF JUDGEMENT
A paladin who follows this oath adheres to these tenets
Choose Wisely Most believe lightning strikes randomly, but you know better. Lightning seeks the closest connection point; for you that point is those that stand against you and those that oppose justice. When faced with multiple foes or decisions you suss out the most deserving of your wrath.
Justice Be Swift Lightning is the quickest known force of nature and the justice you bring to the world must be its equal.
Strike with Destructive Force Like a lightning bolt, you strike down the unjust with such power you are not but a streak of light, a flash of steel and a raucous boom of righteous fury.
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Guided Strike
You can use your Channel Divinity to strike with supernatural accuracy. When you make an attack roll, you can use your Channel Divinity to gain a +10 bonus to the roll. You make this choice after you see the roll, but before the DM says whether the attack hits or misses.
Divine Lightning Rod
As a Bonus Action, while also using your Channel Divinity, you mark a creature you can see within 10 feet of you as the target of your judgement for one minute. Whenever you damage a creature, that is not your marked target, with lightning or radiant damage while the marked target is within 20 feet of you the marked receives half of the elemental damage dealt. If you damage the marked directly with lightning or radiant damage, the respective elemental damage is doubled.
Oath of Judgement Spells
| Paladin Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3rd | witch bolt, thunderwave |
| 5th | zone of truth, shatter |
| 9th | thunder step, call lightning |
| 13th | storm sphere, elemental bane |
| 17th | destructive wave, wall of light |
Aura of Static
At 7th level you crackle with lightning so long as you are conscious. You gain an aura that grants you and your allies lightning resistance so long as they remain within 10 feet of you. Whenever you or an ally attack a hostile within the aura, they take additional lightning damage equal to your Charisma modifier.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Retributive Discharge
At 15th level when struck you can momentarily amplify your aura. As a Reaction when you are hit with a melee weapon attack your attacker must make a Constitution saving throw versus your spell save DC. On a fail they take 3d6 lightning damage and are stunned until the end of your next turn. On a success they take half damage and are not stunned.
Living Thunderhead
At 20th level you can now amplify your Aura of Static to the scale of a lightning storm. As an action, you can become an avatar of storms, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:
- The radiant damage of Divine Smite is replaced with lightning damage. Improved Divine Smite remains as radiant damage.
- The creature marked as your Divine Lightning Rod has disadvantage on saving throws versus your spells and effects.
- Hostile creatures in your Aura of Static now take 10 lightning damage when they end their turn within 30 feet of you.
- As an action you can end Living Thunderhead early to attempt to obliterate your Divine Lightning Rod, so long as they are within 30 feet of you. When you do this, the marked creature must succeed a Constitution saving throw or take 8d10 + 20 lightning damage. On a success they take half damage. If you kill your Divine Lightning Rod in this manner, you regain your Channel Divinity.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
