Base Class: Bard
Bard of the written word rather than song.
Bonus Proficiencies
Starting when you begin training in this college at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Calligrapher’s Supplies and Forgery Kits.
Scribe Scroll
Your ability to convey meaning through the quill doesn’t stop at the mundane. At third level, you gain the ability to scribe tales, poetry, and musical notation into a bardic scroll, much like a wizard can. The scroll contains instructions and anecdotal information on how to properly tell the story, play the song, or time the joke. It takes 2 hours and 50 gp per spell level to imbue the scroll with the proper magic, but then any bard – including yourself – can use the scroll as an action to cast that spell, or even memorize it to replace one of the spells that they already know.
Author’s Masterwork
At 3rd level, you have begun creating your great work, hopefully a masterpiece that will be well regarded by others in your feild and beyond. This work might be a collection of essays, a novel, a book of poetry, or some other kind of literary work. At the end of a long rest, you can share your masterwork with creatures of your choosing. This creature gains a use of your bardic inspiration, and can continue to use your bardic inspiration until they take a long rest. They can use this bardic inspiration normally, and regain its use on a short rest. You can share your inspiration with as many creatures as you’d like, but for each creature you share it with, your pool of inspiration lowers until that creature is no longer borrowing it.
Silvertongue
At 6th level, you gain the uncanny ability to use your descriptive talents to literally bring the things you read aloud to life. You spend your action describing from your own work or even the quality work of others a creature that you choose. This creature’s CR can’t be higher than half your bard level, rounded down. The creature is entirely composed of ink, the color of which you can choose – though it’s composition doesn’t affect it’s damage or abilities. It acts on your turn, and follows instructions you give it as a bonus action. The creature is immune to psychic damage, but no other damage it might normally have resistance or immunity to.
The inky apparition lasts one minute, but is susceptible to Dispel Magic and similar spells. You can use this ability once per long rest.
Finished Masterpiece
At 14th level, your magnum opus has been completed, and you gain a particular connection to those who’ve read it. The storyteller’s light that shines in your eyes, is reflected in the creature’s you’ve let borrow your Bardic Inspiration using your Author’s Masterwork ability. As long as one of these individuals haven’t expanded their use of Bardic Inspiration, you can use your bonus action and target them to give them Masterpiece Inspiration. Instead of rolling their inspiration, they can instead take the maximum result.
The culmination of your masterwork has other benefits, as well. It’s the result of a great amount of skill and research. Once per long rest, you can add your proficiency bonus a second time to any single skill check you make that you already have proficiency in.
