Base Class: Barbarian
Any culture that lives near large bodies of water has legends of frightening creatures that lurk beneath the surface, waiting to drag unsuspecting souls to the depths. These aquatic menaces can take a variety of forms, but fear of what lies below is common to many lands. Those who follow the Path of the Leviathan choose to embrace and embody that fear, and become monsters of the deep themselves.
Aquatic Mobility
Starting at Level 3, when you choose this path, you gain increased mobility when in water. You gain a swimming speed equal to your walking speed and the ability to breathe underwater. At Level 10, your swimming speed increases by another 15 feet.
Fearsome Grapple
Also at Level 3, while raging, you can make a bonus action to attempt to grapple a creature. If you are in the water, you have advantage on the roll.
Your jaws become a natural weapon that deal 1d6 piercing damage. You can attack by biting as a bonus action while grappling.
Predatory Instinct
At Level 6, your senses have been fine-tuned to locating your next potential prey. You can cast Locate Creature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1) per long rest. You ignore the stipulation about running water.
Monstrous Form
Most underwater monster myths have their basis on ordinary animals. At Level 10, choose from one of the following beasts to emulate, gaining the bonuses while in rage.
Crocodilian
You become skilled in your grappling technique. You get advantage on rolls to grapple even when out of the water. While a creature is grappled by you, you can use your action to perform a death roll. The creature must contest with Strength or Dexterity, taking 2d12 bludgeoning damage if they fail or half as much if they succeed.
Shark
Your predatory senses are honed even further. When you cast Locate Creature, the range of the spell is increased to 1,500 feet. The creature must make a Constitution saving throw (DC= 8 + your Con modifier + your proficiency bonus). On a failed save, you know how many hit points the creature has.
Squid
You become accustomed to hunting in the darkest depths. You gain Darkvision up to 60 feet, and once per rage, you can cast Darkness centered on yourself. You can see through even this magical darkness.
Whale
Your build becomes powerful and sturdy. You can lift as though you were a creature one size larger. You gain +2 to your armor class and resistance to cold damage.
Submerged Heart
At Level 14, you are a creature of the water at heart, even when on dry land. While raging, you may call upon the primal power of the depths and are surrounded by an aura of aquatic energy. You and every creature within a 15 feet radius use your swimming speed instead of your walking speed. You count as being in water for the purpose of your Fearsome Grapple feature.
