Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow the Way of the Mystic's Bane spend their lives training their minds and spirits to resist the strongest of magical forces, and to destroy those who would wield such forces against them. Such monks can resist magical damage, often turning it back upon their enemies, and can even channel their ki to negate the effects of high-level spells. They often serve as bodyguards to those endangered by ethereal foes, or as assassins hired to take down powerful archmages and otherworldly monsters. Regardless of their profession, those who practice the Way of the Mystic's Bane are feared and respected by all those who employ the magical arts.

If you choose to follow this path, ask yourself: what compelled you to do so? Were you raised in a monastery dedicated to overcoming dark forces from beyond the veil of the Material Plane, or did you study under a single tutor? Do you seek only to combat those who misuse magic, or is magic itself a plague upon the Multiverse, worthy of destruction? Now that you are armed with the ability to overcome the energy of the Weave itself, how will you use such power?

Slayer of Mages

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your training to target the unique weaknesses of unfriendly spellcasters. You gain the mage slayer feat.

Ethereal Reflection

At 6th level, you gain the ability to draw an opponent's spells into your own body, absorbing its magical essence, before redirecting the power of the spell back at your foe. When you take damage from a spell, you can use your reaction to deal half the damage taken (rounded down) to the creature who cast it as long as that creature is within 30' of you.

Arcane Resistance

At 11th level, your experience in withstanding deadly magic has grown even further, allowing you to survive onslaughts that even the most seasoned heroes might succumb to. You gain resistance to all magical damage. In addition, if you fail a saving throw against a magical effect, you can choose to succeed instead. You must finish a long rest before you can use this feature again.

One With the Weave

At 17th level, your spiritual and mental mastery is such that you can outmatch even the most powerful arcane forces. Using your ability to absorb and redirect magical energy, you can now fully negate the effects of even the highest-level spells, channeling its energy back into the Weave. When you or any allies that you can see are affected by a spell or other magical effect, you can expend 5 ki points to ignore said spell or effect.
