Base Class: Monk
The Way of the Inner Dragon is a tradition that grants the user unrivaled speed and terrifying power. Those that choose to follow this dangerous path risk destroying themselves through the sheer amount of ki that is forced into their lightning-fast attacks, which deal damage to rival the ancient winged beasts for which the way was named. Followers of this path learn to unleash the ki reserves hidden within their soul to enter a state of being between that of rage and tranquility know as "Ki Flow." In this state, ki replaces adrenaline, and when that ki runs out, even more is called upon. Though the soul offers virtually limitless power, the door to these abilities is locked for a reason. Choosing to enter the state of Ki Flow can cause great, sometimes fatal, harm. The risk of walking this path is often too much for the user to bear, so it is only taught to those who have the physical strength and durability necessary to handle the excessive surges of ki in use.
Draconic Ki Flow (3rd Level)
Begin Ki Flow
Once per short rest, you may, as a bonus action, unleash your soul's vast ki reserves. This effect lasts for 1 minute and cannot be stopped unless you fall to 0 hit points. The pain of doing so causes you to take damage equal to 1d6 minus Your Constitution modifier. While in Ki Flow, you may:
- add your STR modifier to Unarmed Strike attack and damage rolls
- jump across gaps without impeding movement (10 foot max)
- use all melee weapons as if they are monk weapons (you'll need to add a custom action for this; simply recreate your weapon in the custom action tab on the character's page and use the DEX stat)
Ki Restoration
You may, as a bonus action, take damage equal to 1d6 minus your constitution modifier and gain 2 ki points (up to your ki point maximum).
Dragon's Speed (6th Level)
Movement Improvements In Ki Flow
During Ki Flow:
- If a condition causes you to only be able to move at half of your speed, you may ignore that part of the condition
- You may get up from prone without using movement
Energy Sense (11th Level)
In Ki Flow, you may use Patient Defense as a reaction. Additionally, you can sense the location of all creatures within your sight range regardless of effects such as invisiblity.
Ki Restoration Improvement (11th Level)
Using Ki Restoration now returns 3 ki points instead of 2.
Ki Flow Mastery (17th Level)
Entering Ki Flow and using Ki Restoration now heals 1d6 hitpoints to the user instead of taking them.
You may now enter ki flow twice per short rest.
Ki Restoration Improvement (17th Level)
Using Ki Restoration now restores 5 ki points instead of 3.
Dragon's Breath (17th Level)
You have learned to focus your overflowing ki into a powerful burst of energy from your mouth. If you are a dragonborn, you may also add another d6 damage to your default breath attack.
