Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Way of Reversal is a fighting style that eschews direct violence, preferring to only return the violence that is sent at them or those that they protect.

Improved Dodge

At 3rd Level, you have trained your reflexes to let you redirect attacks coming at you or your allies. On a turn where you have taken the Dodge action, you can:

  • When a creature within 5 feet of you is attacked, use your reaction to change the target of that attack to yourself.
  • When a melee attack misses you, use your reaction to shove the attacker into any space adjacent to you.
  • When a melee attack hits you, use your reaction to roll your Martial Arts die and deal that much damage to your attacker.

Disabling Strikes

Starting at 3rd Level, you have trained yourself to attack with enough precision to disable your enemies while prevent harm from coming to them.

Whenever you hit a creature with an attack granted by your Flurry of Blows, you can have that attack deal no damage and instead choose one of the following:

  • Knock the target prone.
  • Switch positions with the target then move 5 feet in any direction.
  • Give the target disadvantage on all attacks it makes on its next turn.

Shimmering Defense

By 6th level, you have learned to harness your ki into illusory magic that disorients attackers. You can spend 1 ki point on your turn as an action to increase your AC by 2 until the beginning of your next turn. Until then, if a melee attack misses you and the attack roll was at least 5 lower than your AC, you may spend your reaction to spend 1 additional ki and redirect the attack to another creature within 5 feet of the attacker. For this attack, you roll the attack roll instead of your attacker and add your Dexterity to the attack roll rather than your attacker's Strength or Dexterity.

Redirect Energy

Starting at 11th Level, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on a ranged magic attack that targets you. When you do so, if the attack roll is lower than your AC by more than 10, you regain Ki up to your starting Ki equal to the level of the spell (minimum 1). Once you use this ability, you cannot use it again until you take a long rest.

Catch the Blade

By 17th Level, your reflexes are heightened enough to catch a weapon attack that is about to hit you. When you are hit by a melee weapon attack, you can use your reaction to take half damage. Then you may spend 2 ki to force the attacker to succeed on a Dexterity save, or else you catch and steal that weapon.
