Base Class: Paladin
The Oath of the Dragonsguard
The Oath of the Dragonsguard is taken by Paladins who pledge service to Bahamut, the dragon god of Justice and Honor. Sometimes called Scale knights or Talons - after the order the Talons of Justice, these paladins represent Bahamut's will while opposing the forces of Tiamat and working to contain the damage caused by the wars between dragonkind. Because their focus on the long term and combating Tiamatan threats is paramount over more immediate needs of lesser races, they are often viewed as aloof and enigmatic. Their armor bears little embellishment, often a single holy symbol of Bahamut and occasionally the sigil of one of Bahamut's seven servant great wyrm gold dragons that the paladin most tries to emulate.
Tenets of the Dragonsguard
The Oath of the Dragonsguard tenets are the Code the Dragonsguard knights live by.
- Draconic Exemplar. Your name, through words and deeds should engender faith, awe, dread, and respect from all those you encounter. They must fear your wrath if they cross you, trust your word in dealings, and revere your power to stand against even the mightiest foe.
- Combat Tiamat. Tiamat's forces menace all that exists. You must be ready to move swiftly and pursue them anywhere. When faced with a choice, combating their agenda is paramount over other considerations.
- Make Amends. The wars of dragonkind can bring ruin on the lesser races. Protect the innocent when possible and make amends with those affected.
- Long View. Temporary solutions have permanent consequences. Aid the weak to solve their own problems, and be prepared to end a threat permanently to ensure lasting protection from its return.
Urgala's Brilliance
Urgala blesses Dragonsguard Paladins with the ability to Channel Divinity, with the Paladin choosing from the following two options at the time they do so.
Gruemar's Terror: As an action you roar an ancient threat in Draconic. Any creature within 90 feet of you that is reptile, draconic, or understand Draconic must make a Charisma saving throw. if it fails, it is frightened for 1 minute or until it takes damage. Friendly creatures have advantage on the save.
A frightened creature must spend its turns trying to move as far away from you as it can, and it cannot willingly move to a space within 30 feet of you. It also cannot take reactions. For its action, it can only use the Dash action or try to escape from an effect that prevents it from moving. If there is nowhere to move, the creature can use the Dodge action. If a creature has broken line of sight with you, it may, as an action, make a wisdom save to regain its resolve. On a success, it is no longer frightened, and gains immunity to this ability from you for 24 hours.
Borkadd's Judgement: Using a bonus action you call on Borkadd's aid to ensure your next attack strikes true. On your next attack action, you may attack only once, but it is guaranteed to hit and cause a critical hit.
Troannaxia's Blessing
Known Spells
Unlike other Paladins, Dragonsguard, like the dragons you serve, are imbued with magic from the inside out. Your inherent magical nature allows you to cast from a more robust list of known spells drawn from the paladin and sorcerer spell lists, using the standard paladin spell slots. You prepare a number of spells equal to half your paladin level + your Charisma modifier. These spells must be of a level you can cast, and are drawn from the Paladin and Sorcerer spell lists. If not a Paladin spell, it must be of the Evocation or Conjuration school. You also gain 2 Cantrips from the Sorcerer spell list.
You must also pick one type of Metallic (if good/neutral) or Chromatic (if evil) dragon. All of your damage dealing spells that deal energy damage deal the same type as that dragon's breath weapon.
Sonngrad's Gifts
Oath Spells
You gain Oath spells at the paladin levels listed. You know these spells in addition to your number of known spells.

Kurya's Watch
Beginning at 7th level, draconic power emanates from you, channeled from Kurya's protective gaze. You and friendly creatures within 10 feet have resistance to all elemental damage. (Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, Thunder)
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Marroshok's Fortitude
Starting at 15th level, parts of your skin are covered by a sheen of dragon-like scales, giving you resistance to non-magical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
Your aging also slows to an imperceptible crawl and you cannot be aged magically.
Bahamut's Champion
at 20th level, you are able to become a vessel of draconic power. Using your action, you undergo a transformation. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:
- You add your charisma modifier to weapon damage and Armor Class (minimum +1).
- Whenever you cast a Dragonsguard spell that has a casting time of 1 action, you can cast it using a bonus action instead.
- Hostile creatures within 10 feet of you have disadvantage on saving throws against your spells and class abilities.
After the transformation ends, you suffer one level of exhaustion. You can extend the duration of this state, however, every minute adds an additional level of exhaustion. Once you use this feature, you may not do so again for 24 hours, as well as requiring a long rest to fully recuperate.

Posted Sep 20, 2018MAJOR formatting update and made some minor modifications. Still can't figure out how to specifically follow a known spells pattern. If someone can tell me how to do that I might update back to that as right now it feels OP to know all Paladin AND Sorcerer spells, even with low slots and preparation. Let me know how you like it guys.
