Base Class: Bard
The best stories are not passionately orated by a well-mannered, well-rehearsed performer regaling about a long-dead king under the spotlight and an adoring crowd. The best stories are told by its survivors, sharing them over the light of a bonfire between their uproarious laugher and a mouth full of seasoned mutton. And as a scholar of the College of the Banquet, it's your job to set the tone for the evening with excellently crafted meals. You have learned to channel your charismatic magics into your cooking, allowing you to share your talents with the world (or at least the lucky few who get to travel with you) and deliver wondrous benefits.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you join the College of Cuisine at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with cook's utensils, the herbalist kit, and one skill of your choice. Time to scrounge up some ingredients and get cooking!
Good Meal, Good Leftovers
At 3rd level, after completing a short or long rest, you can use your Bardic Inspiration on any number of targets, expending uses for each one. These Bardic Inspiration dice are not lost after 10 minutes, but instead after 8 hours. You must spend at least 30 minutes of this rest preparing food and serving it to the creatures you target, and if using this feature after a long rest, you may do so before or after restoring your uses of Bardic Inspiration
Company Is Better With Food
At 6th level, your cooking starts to leave an impression on people. After spending at least 30 minutes of strenuous activity preparing food, you can make an ability check using cook’s utensils. When you share that food with a creature, you can choose to replace the result of any Charisma checks you make towards them with this roll.
Note: The preparation and quality of a meal can depend on a long series of varying factors, and at DM discretion can be improved by contributing actions like pursuing/paying for quality ingredients, discovering what types of food your intended recipient most enjoys, Skill Challenges, or whatever ways you can think of to spice up the cooking process. "I go to the tavern for 30 minutes and roll for food quality" is technically, mechanically valid but isn't as exciting as the process of impassioned cooking can truly be!!!
Ingredient Check
Beginning at 6th level, you've botched enough dishes to know the scent of dangerous compounds and expired ingredients. As an action, you can expend a use of Bardic Inspiration to sense the presence and location of poisons, poisonous creatures, and diseases within 30 feet of you. You also identify the kind of poison, poisonous creature, or disease in each case.
True Heroes' Feast
At 14th level, you don't need spell slots or incantations to create a Heroes' Feast- just your wit and some fresh veggies! You can spend at least 30 minutes cooking to "cast" a modified version of Heroes' Feast. This food retains its magical properties for three hours after preparation and still requires one hour of eating to obtain its effects. You must have access to cook's utensils and ingredients with a combined cost of at least 500 gp, which are consumed while cooking, as well as at least three of the following:
- Ready access to clean water
- An open fire, at least 3x3ft
- A clean flat surface at least 5x10ft
- Seasonings totalling at least 50 gp of value (consumed while cooking)
- A walled-in or ceilinged area at least 20x20ft (containing the other requirements), in which to cook uninterrupted
Additionally, if you cook this feast with all 5 requirements, creatures who consume it can roll an additional 2d10 on their hit point maximum and gain effects.
