Base Class: Sorcerer
The origins of your magic may be unbeknownst to you, but the most common form of this innate sorcery comes from unholy revivals. You may have been still born and your parents enlisted the aid of a necromancer to revive you by infusing your soul with necromancy, or perhaps your past life never relinquished full control of your current spirit, leaving you haunted by visions of someone from another life.
However your magic manifested, it has now left you with the stench of undeath upon your very soul. This necromancy is now instilled in you and grows whenever you use your sorcery, making you a possible threat to any and all who keep your company. Most sorcerers who possess this "gift" keep it to themselves, using their magic only when they absolutely must, and claiming the origin of their magical prowess to be from spellbooks or magic items.
Dead Among Us
Starting at 1st level, you retain your creature type, yet you register as undead to spells and other effects that detect the presence of the undead creature type.
Additionally, once per turn, the DM can have you roll a d20 immediately after you cast a sorcerer spell of 1st level or higher. If you roll a 1, an undead creature with a challenge rating equal to or 1 point adjacent to your level appears somewhere within 120 feet of you and can sense your exact location. The undead could appear through a portal from the Shadowfell or arise from its grave, either way it knows exactly where you are and wishes to harm you and your allies.
Spirit Summoning
Also at 1st level, your magic is so concentrated with undead energy, even the weakest forms of your spellcasting bring about undeath. You learn the spare the dying cantrip, which counts as a sorcerer cantrip for you. Whenever you cast this spell on a friendly creature of 1st level/CR of 1 or higher, you summon a spared spirit from their body that is under the fallen creature's control and acts on their initiative. If the spirit dies, the fallen creature remains unconscious but is stable.
Necromancer's Will
At 6th level, you learn to expend sorcery points to gain control of the undead creatures you summon. As a bonus action, you can spend a number of sorcery points equal to half an undead creature's challenge rating to take control of it (as if you conjured it using animate dead or a similar spell). This only works on undead creatures summoned by your Dead Among Us feature. Creatures of challenge rating 1 or lower require only 1 sorcery point.
Intelligent undead are harder to control in this way. If the target has an Intelligence of 8 or higher, it must make a Charisma saving throw, against your spell save DC. If it fails the saving throw and has an Intelligence of 12 or higher, it can repeat the saving throw at the end of every hour until it succeeds and breaks free.
Death Designer
Starting at 14th level, you conjure undead thralls who follow your command. You can cast create undead once per long rest. You can reassert control over the undead you create with this spell by spending 6 sorcery points or by using this feature again during your next long rest.
Undead Adaption
At 18th level, your undead nature progresses to its peak, pushing you closer and closer over the line to undeath. You have immunity to necrotic and poison damage, you become immune to the poisoned condition and your hit point maximum can’t be reduced.
